Hi All,
Been a while since I last visited Gransnet but I have had such sad news this morning that I had to share.
Jingles who was one of Gransnets first members sadly passed away on Thursday after recovering well from a hip replacement after a fall, but then on Wednesday she suffered a pulmonary embolism and sadly passed away in hospital.
Those of us that remember Jingle will do so with fond memories of her sparky personality and lively debate, I will miss her.

Hello everyone, this is jingle/Gonegirl's son. Mum's death on Thursday is a great shock; it was too sudden, too soon. We are devastated.

I knew mum's friends here (and on Twitter) meant a great deal to her, but reading your messages here has been something of a revelation to me. I didn't realise what an impression she had made! Thank you all for sharing.

Sad news about Jings. Feisty and funny as people have said. But we had a lovely exchange of PMs about a cake recipe. Renaissance woman RIP

Marydoll Sun 14-Feb-21 07:35:03

I have done the same, ann. Of course you will be missed. ?

kittylester Sun 14-Feb-21 07:34:21

ann, I think, from messages in the kitchen, you know that you would be missed - just hopefully not for a long while yet!

I hope that gnhq see this thread and review some of their rules.

I am sure I have posted this before but it is worth repeating.
At my advanced age I realise anything could happen any time and I have told my D that if/when the day comes, she has details of a GN friend and is to notify her so that she can pass the news on.
I, perhaps foolishly, feel that I may be missed and my GN friends would wish to know I have departed this life.

So sorry to hear the very sad news about Jingle, I always enjoyed her quirky sense of humour. We had both been on here from day 1 and she was very supportive.
My condolences to her family.

BrightandBreezy Sat 13-Feb-21 22:13:58

I remember her as Jinglebellfrocks when I first used to lurk on Gransnet, long before I actually joined and contributed myself. She was always forthright, often kind and sometimes really humorous. When I logged on I always enjoyed her comments. Whether agreeing or disagreeing with others her sincerity shone through. I really missed her when she was banned and did wonder if she was Gonegirl but was never sure. RIP Jinglebellfrocks. Condolences to her family and friends. flowers

I'm so sorry to hear this. I had a very kind message from Gonegirl shortly after I joined GN.

MiniMoon Sat 13-Feb-21 21:39:41

This is so sad RIP Jinglebellsfrocks.
I have missed her sparkly personality.

My sincere condolences to her family and friends. flowers

On some other forums there can be a thread specifically for mentioning 'friends gone before'. Either for family to notify of a death or for people to offer condolences and memories.
I didn't think we were allowed on GN to even ask after posters who stopped posting though.

Fennel Sat 13-Feb-21 20:44:58

ps As many of us seem to become attached to other posters, at this time and at our age it would be helpful, for me anyway, to have news about any who are poorly.
or God forbid, passed on. Not for morbid reasons, but to send condolences to their families.
Thanks to you, glassortwo for the OP.

Marydoll Sat 13-Feb-21 20:40:14

She didn't pretend to be someone, she wasn't. What you saw was what you got. I liked that about her.

Fennel Sat 13-Feb-21 20:30:36

Very sad news - I miss her too even though at times I thought she went too far. But she was always kind..
As * Gonegirl* she gave me good advice about my new 'puter chair which I'm using now. . I'll have to call it my Jings chair.
As Merlot implies, she had personal problems in the past. if I remeber rightly.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 13-Feb-21 20:29:24

RIP jinglebellfrocks - your posts gave me joy and amusement for too short a time.

JoyBloggs Sat 13-Feb-21 20:04:37

RIP Jings, she was such a character and I always enjoyed reading her posts, whether I agreed with them or not. Have often thought about her, she was one of the 'big names' when I joined in 2013. Sincere condolences to her family flowers

BlueBelle Sat 13-Feb-21 19:37:52

Reading through these comments I hope HQ realise how wrong they are to keep banning people for being who they are
We can all fight our own battles
Obviously a much loved one off character

cornergran Sat 13-Feb-21 18:50:12

Sad news. Jings was spirited, kind hearted and her posts were much missed here. My condolences to her family. flowers.

Alima Sat 13-Feb-21 18:50:00

Oh what sad news, it has actually made me feel ill.
I loved her sometimes irreverent take on life, her kind and generous heart and her witty, funny style.
Condolences to her family.
Rest in Peace jingles, you will be greatly missed.

Happyme Sat 13-Feb-21 18:45:01

Thanks for letting us know glassortwo as with others jinglebells was the initial reason I would log into the gransnet site. I loved her irreverant sense of humour and enjoyed her fiestiness. I always had the impression of someone who was just as likely to pick you up as slap you down and although there were a few jaw dropping comments I missed her whenever she was banned. Used to enjoy trying to spot her reincarnations. Can anyone give me a list of them in case I missed any! Condolences to her loved ones and everyone else who misses her. Life would be so much duller without such characters, wish GNHQ would appreciate that.

shandi6570 Sat 13-Feb-21 18:38:27

So very sad to hear this, don't think I can add anything to what has already been said about a much missed and never forgotten member of GN ?

Kalu Sat 13-Feb-21 18:36:22

So sad to hear this news. Always a spark but never boring with Jings around. Such a sincerely caring person too. Such love for her family.
I thought her latest comeback hilarious as there was no doubt who used that certain style of posting. It was a sorry day for Gransnet when she was permanently banned.
RIP Jings

Atqui Sat 13-Feb-21 18:22:55

Sad news- never a dull moment with Jings around.Condolences to her loved ones

dustyangel Sat 13-Feb-21 18:20:01

Very sorry and sad to read this. I always got and enjoyed Jings sense of humour and feel GN lost something when she had to leave. Condolences to her family and friends. flowers

morethan2 Sat 13-Feb-21 18:15:20

Oh this is such very sad news. I’ve often thought about her. There was never a dull moment when she joined in a thread. She was direct, she was hilariously funny. She was so very kind to me when I was troubled. I will hold her close in my thoughts tonight and for a long time after. Condolences to her family and all who knew. RIP Jings

BlueBelle Sat 13-Feb-21 18:13:36

Very sorry to hear this news it’s always sad to read something like this especially when she wasn’t here for support
I never really came across her that much but I know how fondly she has been talked about by others
Kind thoughts to her family if they are reading this ❤️
