Hi All,
Been a while since I last visited Gransnet but I have had such sad news this morning that I had to share.
Jingles who was one of Gransnets first members sadly passed away on Thursday after recovering well from a hip replacement after a fall, but then on Wednesday she suffered a pulmonary embolism and sadly passed away in hospital.
Those of us that remember Jingle will do so with fond memories of her sparky personality and lively debate, I will miss her.

Sad news . A much missed character. ?

trisher Sat 13-Feb-21 14:38:02

That is so sad. I always enjoyed her posts and hated the way she was treated by GNHQ. Hope you are OK glassortwo. Condolences to all her family it must have been a shock. RIP Jings x

Condolences to her family, didn't always agree with her, but the ban was unjust.

Such sad news to hear. As Gonegirl she gave me my very first slapdown on GN, which I have to admit has stayed with me for a long time. Then on the other hand we had some wonderful interactions and I also respected her as a poster. I often wondered how she was getting along after she was banned (unfairly IMO)
RIP Jingles/Gonegirl flowers

Really so sad to read this, she was laugh out loud funny on many occasions and when Gone Girl emerged, she couldn't be anyone else! that irreverent style of hers came to the fore. I'm really sorry to hear that she has died, she was definitely a legend here on GN. flowers

RIP Jings.

I too am another, who is sad to hear the news. I remember, when she accidently outed herself after she was banned.
I didn't always agree, but did enjoy reading her contributions. A sad day here. ?

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear this. Jingl was far and away my favourite poster, so quick-witted and funny, and she never held back when it came to bringing people down a peg or two when it was warranted. Her ban was unjust, imo, and it was great to have her back for a while (even though I’m so dense she had to pm me as Gonegirl to tell me it was her!). RIP, Jingl, you’ll be sadly missed.

I'm shocked and saddened too.

Yes, she was sparky but she was kind and had a heart of gold.

Her permanent ban was such an error of judgement by GNHQ, she had built up online relationships with many Gransnetters and was missed by so many.

RIP Jinglbellsfrocks ?

So very sad, RIP dear Jings xxxxxx

Oh, I'm so shocked and saddened to hear about Jings.

sad

It's terribly sad news. Despite her own problems jingl snuck in the wire to send me a loving and supportive pm. I always hoped she'd be able to return as IMO she was one of the best.

Thinking of her family, especially her adored grandsons.

How very sad. She was the reason I joined Gransnet. flowers

Jingles was mentioned by many during the recent attempts to persuade GNHQ not to ban MawB, or anyone, for life. All the references to Jingles were affectionate and many posters couldn’t understand her permanent ban. I enjoyed her especially as Gone Girl

moomin Sat 13-Feb-21 13:58:34

Sad news, a feisty and outspoken poster. RIP Jingles

Marmight Sat 13-Feb-21 13:53:40

So sorry to hear this. She was a feisty, outspoken, over the top character. I missed her when she was banned - numerous times! She was one of a kind. RIP ‘Jingles’ ?

seacliff Sat 13-Feb-21 13:52:08

How sad. She was an interesting, unpredictable poster and although she broke the Gransnet rules (whatever they are) she was fun and had a warm heart. I missed her posts when GN banned her.

Condolences to her family. RIP Jings.

lemongrove Sat 13-Feb-21 13:50:51

I do remember Jingles, she was a poster who spoke plainly and was banned ( wrongly in my view.)
However, there is life outside GN and am sure other forums
Suited her better.RIP Jingles.

Jings was very much a 'marmite' character, but she was never boring and always called a spade a spade, usually with some very fruity language.
She will be sadly missed.
RIP Jingle.

Thanks for the confirmation Jane Ainsworth.
This is such very sad news. Jingles was full of life and brought some laughter to many threads.
Sincere condolences to her loved ones x

annodomini Sat 13-Feb-21 13:45:35

Thanks for letting us know, glassortwo. I will always remember Jingle as a feisty poster - occasionally feisty enough to be banned, but usually bouncing back under one name or another. RIP Jingle.

X remembrances Pittcity

kittylester Sat 13-Feb-21 13:44:53

I'm really sad to hear this. She was a great personality. RIP jings.

annsixty Sat 13-Feb-21 13:43:56

Not always my favourite poster but sad news indeed.
She adored her Gs’s and I send my condolences to her family.
You always knew where you stood with her, a spade was a spade sometimes even a shovel.
RIP Jingles.

Pittcity Sat 13-Feb-21 13:43:28

How sad. I remember Jingles calling a spade a spade! RIP

Jane I was talking to her last week on Twitter and she was doing really well after her op.
