58 years ago today this boy and this girl met at a party in their first term at St Andrews.
Despite the ups and downs life throws at you, they lived happily ever after until their final goodbye 7 years ago in our village churchyard.
How lucky I was to spend my life with this gentle, principled and brave man. RIP Paw

Maw💐. What a lovely happy photo! I was putting something in DH’s memory box the other day and found a photo I took just after we started going out together. He was the tender age of 23 and the similarity between him then and my nearly eighteen year old grandson now is startling. It brought a lump to my throat.

I was lucky enough to find the other half of myself when I was 16 and he was 18. I was born disabled but it never phased him even when my health got worse when the children where very young 4 and 6 months. He just said we alter our way of life to suit what you can do. He kept his word until the day he died . Seems so unfair he was the fit and healthy and he got grade 4 malignant melanoma and given 5 years to live he lived 3 and died 4 days after his 47th birthday. But because of him and the promises I made to him which I still keep I get through everyday.. Will be 21 years in February since he died . Christmas was he's favourite time of the year so I have always put my tree up on 1st December like we always did and down on new year's day.

We are the lucky ones we found the other half of ourselves when young RosiesMaw the one person in the whole world that completed us. I know when my husband took his last breath half of me died to and haven't been whole since. We had 29 years and married 22 together . The grief gets worse every year but my love for him is as strong as ever . My one and only .

Beautiful photograph. Brought tears to my eyes. Thinking about about my lovely late husband who was only 54 when he died nearly 6 years ago. My birthday today and I can see the last birthday gift he gave me (a quirky carved stone bird) keeping out from behind a photograph. Like you, Rosiesmaw, I was lucky to spend my life with a wonderful, gentle and principled man.

AuntieE

These kind of special days can be hard, can't they?

Is that a Bute School of Medicine tie?

thinking of you.

Had to change name from Grandtante, when I starting using gmail recently.

No- Mine was I think the undergraduate tie (St Salvator’s college?) and Paw who had graduated the day before me wore the university tie.

Those we love don’t go away
They walk beside us every day
Unseen, unheard but always near
Still loved, still missed and very dear
