Well done BA69, I did wonder how it would go and was waiting for your response.

With such a good outcome it will give you self confidence to make your own choices and not feel held back.

I’m so pleased it went well for you BA69 and that you had a lovely time. Good to hear you’ve booked for next year 👍🏼.
I think you’ll enjoy the other small breaks you are thinking of taking during the year, too. Now you’ve done the first one, you’ll know it’s not as daunting as you thought, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy those too. 💐
Thank you for coming back to let us know how you got on.

BA I am thrilled you had such a wonderful time . I was hoping you where . Already booked for next year and the year will fly by. Your husband would be very proud of you . I hope you feel proud of yourself. Already thinking about other holidays that's great . You sound a different woman.

Your grief will always be with you and be overwhelming at times but you will push through it for your sake as well as for your darling husband.

You have given hope to other widows and those who's partners have died. You are braver than I was . But I am making up for lost time .

Look forward to reading about your adventures. 😊💐

Oh wow! That has made my day! What a lovely positive post. You actually do sound re energised. 👍

Maybe you can consider doing a few more little breaks before next year. A neighbour of mine did that and met another like minded lady who lives at the other end of the country but now they pick a break and meet up and have a great time.

Gymstagran Mon 30-Dec-24 12:23:44

Well done, the first time is the hardest step to make. I'm glad you enjoyed your break

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas. Well, as I posted before Christmas I had a booked a Twixmas break for myself in a local hotel in Blackpool and I was nervous as it was my first time away on my own, but you lovely people gave me encouragement. Well I have just go back home this morning and I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute of it, it was the best decision I made since my husband passed. Everyone was so friendly, some were in a similar situation as myself but there was a good mixture of people from a lovely 97 year old lady who goes for the whole Christmas period every year to a family with a 2 year old child. The staff were helpful and friendly without being patronising, I found myself chatting to everyone and at night there was entertainment in the bar. We all joined in and let our hair down. Well I have booked myself in already for the Christmas period next year, some of the people I met will be there too. I really feel better than I have done for a while, energised and more confident. Perhaps I have just been lucky with the people I met, but I would say to anyone in the same situation thinking about doing something similar, just Do It. If I can do it anyone can and after the first time it will get easier. I will think about booking a few days away in another holiday resort, perhaps a coach tour, in the Summer. That will take that bit extra "bravery" but it is the next step.

In the meantime happy New Year to you all
