What are you reading at the moment

Reading the latest Ruth Rendall book 'The Vault', its years since I read a Inspector Wexford book, I do remember I wasn't too keen on them!!! well I will see if I enjoy this one.

Reading and really enjoying Into the darkest corner by Elizabeth Haynes a gripping psychological thriller.

I am reading Rudyard Kipling's "Kim" because the latest of the Mary Russell books, "The Game" was inspired by it.

Took Never Look Away with me when we went away last weekend, but didn`t get much reading done, so have only just finished it, and LOVED it! Looking forward to his next book now. Have just started an earlyish book by Michael Connelly, The Black Ice. I like the Harry Bosch stories, so it should be OK.

So agree Divawithattitude ...a gross piece of mis-casting! Nothing like the character...neither physically, mentally or emotionally. Reacher is not a 'mission impossible' figure.

But then I thought the same with the mis-casting of Lee Cusler's Dirk Pitt character too.

Such wasted opportunities to draw others to the books.

Tom Cruse as Jack Reacher - NOOOOOO that is so wrong - he will have to stand on a box the whole time!

Just read Stephen Fry's autobiography - he writes in a very amusing way and it was was very enjoyable.

Annabel - the last two are "Clover" and "In the High Valley Being the fifth and last volume of the Katy Did series" Also a short story called Nine Little Goslings is part of the saga too. Hope you enjoy them!

eGJ I read the Katy books when I was about 10, I think. Loved them and didn't know about the other two. I wonder why they didn't publish them in UK.

Just read all the "What Katy Did" books on my kindle. There were only three books released in UK,[What Katy Did, What Katy did at School and What Katy Did Next] but five in the series in the US so have been able to read all five, revive childhood memories and really find out WHAT DID happen to the whole family.{btw FREE! on kindle}

World without End by Ken Follett which is the follow-up to The Pillars of the Earth. Not as good as Pillars and language is too modern for the 1300's although I can see where he is coming from - for us in the 21st Century. Finding it quite a marathon but only have about 50 pages to go........

goldengirl try 'The lost daughter' by Diane Chamberlain, one of my favourites and a real page turner.

Thanks to Gransnetters I've just finished The Midwife's Confession by Diane Chamberlain. Very good page turner. It's in the Jodi Picault mode but not, in my view, quite so intense. In fact I didn't feel close to any of the characters, they were too wrapped up in themselves and each other. The fashion of using a chapter related to or by a particular character continues. A very good read for a train journey; time passes very quickly.

numberplease I've read one other of his but can't remember which one it was. I also like Gregg Hurwitz and Harlan Coben who write similar thrillers.

I really enjoyed 'Never look away' numberplease.

Well, I`ve finished The Hidden Child, it did get better, I was doubtful at the beginning. Am now just starting Never Look Away, by Linwood Barclay. This is only his 4th book, but I enjoyed the other 3, so this one should be no exception. We`ve got a new shop opened in town in the last few weeks, bargainbooktime.com, and they`re really great value, loads of paperbacks at 3 for a fiver, and most are fairly recent.

From what I've heard about him, Ketih Richards is a really decent bloke. Said book is floating around my daughters bathroom, might liberate it.

I have just read "Whoops! Why Everone Owes Everyone and No One Can Pay" by John Lanchester. It is a fascinating books about the financial crisis and is very good on explaining what has been going on in the financial world over the past few decades.
To say I was shocked and disgusted by what has gone on is to put it mildly....

I've just finished Life by Keith Richards and really enjoyed it. On to The Secret Life of Bees next, now I want to put an Amazon order in for the next batch. Apart from the new Barbara Erskine novel I don't know.....

Just now reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Although the storyline is gripping some of the language is really turgid, but I think this has to do with the translation.

But I must mention the book I recently finished called The Crimson Rooms, written by Katherine McMahon, Its about one of the first women lawyers, back in 1927 and is an exquisitely drawn portrait of the times. KM also wrote Rose of Sebastapol, about nursing in the Crimean Wars, harrowing, but a good read.

Yogagran, they had a discussion on here for 'When God was a Rabbit' a book club choice. I think I can say I was in the minority by complety disliking it!!!
I really enjoy the CJ Sansom books, I have read two of them now. I will have a break and get round to reading the third in the series. I have a mountain of books to read, all around the house, but still keep ordering from the library.

Have just finished Belle by Lesley Pearse, her latest book. I am a great fan of Lesley Pearse anyway, but this book was yet another excellent but light read. Her books are just right for me to read in bed when I am tired as they are not too heavy or deep and an excellent relaxing read which is what I need after a busy day. Am delighted to see that there is a sequel to this book due out next spring. Can highly recommend her
