Tbh I just thought the Granslit tag was interesting.

you can hear the interview on Today here. 08.20

For 20p I'll give it a go.

I don't think I actually want to read stories by and about 'third agers'.
I enjoy a well-written novel by an author of any age, but who would want to read about oldies all the time...?

lizh Fri 16-Nov-12 14:41:26

I heard her on 'Today' today too, immediately ordered it for my Kindle. 20p? Worth it if only to be able to talk about it!

jO5 Fri 16-Nov-12 14:23:18

Although I think they went downhill after the first one. But they sold well.

jO5 Fri 16-Nov-12 14:22:35

Well, Mary Wesley starting writing her books in her eighties!

GranDi Fri 16-Nov-12 14:20:02

It's not on it's own. 'It's Never Too Late - an anthology of romantic short stories' written by and about thirdaagers was published last year and is now available on Kindle - and I'm sure there are others that would qualify as 'Granslit'. Any suggestions

jeni Fri 16-Nov-12 13:34:07

That's how I read it too

jO5 Fri 16-Nov-12 12:54:47

Rude girls.

Riverwalk Fri 16-Nov-12 12:49:16

Ana 'Gran slit' did make me laugh, considering the subject matter! grin

Grannyknot Fri 16-Nov-12 12:38:34

I gave up on it! Might go back to it. I had figured out where it was going. I have a friend who is a perfect role model for saucy 'granslit'. She is 67, very pretty, and has a constant stream of admirers. Someone asked her how she does it, and she replied "I give out" grin

Mamie Fri 16-Nov-12 12:31:11

I enjoyed it and think she writes quite well (apart from the grandaughter's speech patterns), but ultimately found the characters unconvincing. The heroine was OK, but the husband, son-in-law and daughter seemed inconsistently drawn. I think she could be a good writer though, with better character development.

jO5 Fri 16-Nov-12 11:20:47

grrrrranny that's good. smile (I think I had enough r's in there! smile)

Ana I didn't think you did mean it to be rude!? Please explain? grin

grrrranny Fri 16-Nov-12 10:51:09

J05 Thanks for the link. It made me finally pluck up the courage to download the kindle reader to my netbook and then buy the book. I had 43p extra on card (I had paid off more than needed) so now have 23p left - perhaps buy another book! So you gave me the kick I needed. Brilliant. Thanks. smile

Ana Fri 16-Nov-12 10:51:01

Or Grannylit

Ana Fri 16-Nov-12 10:50:35

It wasn't meant to be rude! blush

jO5 Fri 16-Nov-12 10:50:26

We could call it Nannalit

jO5 Fri 16-Nov-12 10:49:38

That's not my word! Author was on the Today programme this morning. smile

Ana Trust you! hmm

annodomini Fri 16-Nov-12 10:27:17

Thanks for the recommendation, J. I've just bought it - 20p! Amazing.

gillybob Fri 16-Nov-12 10:13:43

Hi j05 I thoroughly enjoyed reading this after picking it up for next to nothing on my kindle. Its not the most challenging of novels I have ever read but a nice easy going, feel good, bedtime read.

This book fits perfectly into your new genre of granslit

Ana Fri 16-Nov-12 09:59:23

I am hearing that word as 'Gran slit' hmm

jO5 Fri 16-Nov-12 09:55:11

Aparently this book, written by a woman in her sixties, (first novel) has been a top seller on Kindle for some time now.

It, all on its own, has coined a new genre - "Granslit"!

Thursdays in the Park

Only 20p too!
