Do you need a laugh?

If you need a laugh this Summer, and also like reading about interesting places, then read McCarthy's Bar and also The Road To McCarthy by author Pete McCarthy.Half Irish, half English , he sets out on a voyage of discovery. McCarthy's Bar is set in Ireland and the other book in all sorts of diverse places. This is not a novel btw, but I guess a travel book, but so amusing and well written. I will look and see if he has written any more books.At times I have been half collapsed in laughter and DH wonders what the matter is.

He was a great writer and very funny. A sad loss. i can't believe it is now ten years since he died.

I remember hearing the book read on the radio. Yes, it would be a good relaxing summer read.

Oh, so sad to hear that he died!didn't realise the books were quite so old, as a friend gave them to me recently.What a shame, as you could tell he was a nice person as well as a good writer.
