I just love everything about summer, I think the lighter and brighter days and evenings lift my spirits. I can be outdoors a lot of the time enjoying the company of friends and family, taking part as a member of a team of bowlers and having lots of social interaction in a very relaxed way. And being lucky enough to live on the cliff top in Bournemouth, walking along the promenade seeing the sea breathing in the sea air.

when I was growing up outside fort william we had a hill behind house and beach opposite (no sand though) and played outside a lot. We used to go for picnics when we swam in the river, and played among the haystacks. Sometimes went on the steam boat to oban for the day. My granny used to go outside her house and wave a tablecloth so we could see her from the boat. She also used to take us to Portobello sometimes for a few days.
We also went to Bournemouth a few times. the 1st year the 5 of us plus mum and granny went all the way by train!! mum always had to persuade conductor to accept scottish bank notes as soon as crossed to england.
I have not been abroad recently but in the summer I like to meet up with family and friends, go on day trips and try and see some Edinburgh Fringe shows. I was involved in a production which took place on Portobello beach last year and we are planning a reunion. I am looking forward to seeing them all again
Oh and I hope we have nice weather sunshine

Comfortable clothes! Shorts & sandals & a tshirt or simple cotton top will do for everything but smart events like posh parties or weddings.

What a great collection, will keep me going for a long time.

My favourite thing about summer is the long evenings, sitting outside after work with a good book and long drink!

my favourite thing about summer is walking across Dartmoor with a lazy picnic by a babbling brook and the skylarks singing

Washing drying on the line whilst I sit in the garden and read a good book. Bliss!

The long warm(er) evenings which allow me to get home from work, dawdle in the garden, deadheading roses or picking strawberries before getting away with a cold dinner eaten outside.

jowatkins Thu 25-Jun-15 18:38:18

The warmth of the sun, light breezes full of flower scents and birdsong. Bliss.

My favourite thing about summer is getting round to those books I see and buy - I pile them up by the bed and sleep ! I can only really get to them come the summer sitting out in the garden or when on holiday. There's something about reading books abroad can't put my finger on it but it sometimes adds a whole new perspective !

Seeing and joining in with my grandchildren playing in the garden, making obstacle courses having wacky races and picnic lunches, water fights are especially fun climbing trees, yes I've had to climb up to rescue on occasion unless it's too high then I get a handsome neighbour ;) to help hehehe and when I'm back home relaxing in my garden the best thing of all is the phone call saying "mum, I don't know what you've all been up to today but the kids must be worn out, they're all tucked up fast asleep and it's only 8 o'clock" That's what I love about Summer smile xx

Stujobohm Thu 25-Jun-15 16:51:32

I love family time in the sun, beach, BBQS, sunbathing and games in the garden.

jlloyd Thu 25-Jun-15 11:47:21

Getting out in the garden, the aroma of sausages sizzling on the barbecue, a glass of something chilled in one hand and a good book in the other.

In Summer it is Wonderful to be able to be outdoors, have a walk in the park, picnics etc. Enjoying the surrounding, nature etc. Taking time to smell the flowers, spend time with family and friends etc. Summer seems to provide a wealth of opportunities, activities etc.

Bellroyd Thu 25-Jun-15 09:27:07

Just getting some warmth into my old bones and being able to spend more time outside.

etheltbags1 Thu 25-Jun-15 09:00:30

I love the light mornings and like most people I love sitting in my garden but its best with my DGD playing in her sand box or paddling pool.

Lots of play dates and picnics with the children.

ToriaJane Wed 24-Jun-15 20:18:47

The smell of new mown grass, gardens to visit and the long evenings. Walking down to the village pub and feeling it's ok to sit down and read a book during the day (outside)!

plastigffantastig Wed 24-Jun-15 19:42:00

The longer days - it's so miserable when it gets dark early!

tamara1970 Wed 24-Jun-15 16:56:25

My best thing about summer is the beautiful flowers everywhere, the sun shinning, and knowing our family yearly holiday is around the corner xx
