My 7 year old grandson loves reading the Jamie Johnson series of football books, which I heard is to be televised on the BBC next year.

They would probably suit 6-12 year olds. The author is Dan Freedman and apparently he also visits schools in the UK to help in English lessons. He really helped my grandson with his reading, as he couldn't be bothered to read about anything else.

Yes I am familiar with the popular author Dan Freedman. Many authors do school visits as it is a way to boost their salary as publishers are notoriously mean, even with well know authors.

There are many great stories out their for young people. These authors I can recommend Steve Backshall, Andy Briggs and Chris Bradford.

Barrington Stoke publish books for reluctant and dyslexic readers and they get all the top authors to write short books which they make appropriate for their readers. They are worth looking at even if you grandson is a fluent reader.
