I am currently reading this fascinating book by Sam Silberman. I know there are a lot of people on here who, like me, have a grandchild (or other family member) with autism and would really recommend for them and for others who are interested in understanding the condition. It is a very well written account of the part that people with autism have played in shaping human history. It ranges from historical figures like the eighteenth century scientist Cavendish to the technologists of Silicon Valley. It also covers the history of treatments for the condition, which makes you want to weep for children and their families. Really powerful stuff.
