Can any Gnetter help me please? Recently I read a novel on holiday and gave it away to a stranger when I had finished. Now I would like to re-read it. It was about a couple who lived in a lighthouse, had a baby which died, found a baby washed ashore in a boat on their beach and kept the child as their own.
Does this ring a bell with anyone??

Is it "The Light Between Oceans"? I saw it offered in an email from Amazon recently and wondered if it might be worth buying. Is it any good? (If that's the one).

Sounds very sad.

Our library BookClub enjoyed 'The Light Between Oceans', unanimously, I think, which is rare. We found the descriptions of the NZ setting beautiful and the couple's heartrending dilemmas prompted a lot of discussion.

Yes!! Thank you so much tanith, Greyduster, Jane10 and Elrel for your replies. I am a bit dotty about lighthouses and chose this as a holiday read on the offchance that it would be interesting. I loved it.

I loved this book too and also gave it away without making a note of the title, so thank you from me too. I wanted to recommend it on here as a good read. It is the only book I have been unable to put down for a long time.

It is indeed a lovely story, one of the best I have read recently.

You need what I have got! It's a cheap indexed notebook and I call it my Book Book.
I jot down things like this and other recommendations from GN, plus any of my own favorite reads. I take it with me when I go to the library because I was getting so doolally that my mind went blank and I forgot what I was looking for.
So the Light between Oceans is now in my Book Book. Wouldn't be without it!!
