Anyone else read this? I read The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry about a year ago, and have only just got around to reading this one.
What a wonderful read this was. And the final chapter, oh my! It's not often a book has me sobbing like this - I think the last one was The Grapes of Wrath.
If there's anyone out there who hasn't read these two books, I urge you to do so. Of course, I know we all have different tastes in reading, but I just want everyone to enjoy these two books as I have .
Rachel Joyce is a seriously good author, so descriptive and so very perceptive of the ordinariness of people. Her characterisation is wonderful, and I grew to know and love the leading characters of the book.
Queenie Hennessy is often described as a companion book rather than as a sequel to Harold Fry, and should sit side by side. Though you really should read Harold Fry first as I think Queenie Hennessy might be a little difficult to fully appreciate on its own.
