I feel so sad. I didn’t know she was ill so it came as a shock.
I loved her books, so talented she will be greatly missed

I am glad It was posted . I had trouble trying to post it without other posts jumping in. I must learn how to stop my tablet doing that.

We had this thread earlier.

A sad day.

In 2011, I had the honour of meeting Andrea when she came to our county book festival to read from and discuss The Long Song.

As MawBroon says, one of our most important writers. She will be sorely missed.

Sad news indeed.

That is sad, so young!
Small Island is one my favourite books too - eldest daughter bought it for me to read when I was in hospital having a hip replacement.

I must tell my daughter Riverwalk. I think she would like that.

Sad to lose such a good writer so young!

Very sad indeed. I read ‘Small Island’ several years ago and the ending stayed with me for ages. She was a very talented writer.

Goodness! How sad.

I've just been perusing the National Theatre website where Small Island is on from April.

Very sad. Small Island was very good and recently watched The Long Song. I must read some more.

That’s very sad to hear, yes her work provided a sadly accurate social commentary. I read Small Island years ago, it was so similar to the way many of my West Indian friends experienced life in Britain in the 1950s and 60s. RIP Andrea

Ohh how very sad I saw her on TV the other week saying she had cancer but she seemed so full of life
A fantastic author loved all her books and a very very articulate and incitful clever lady

Good heavens, Andrea Levy has just died, she was only 62
One of our most important writers today.
