Anyone else gone back to "real" books?

I have never owned a kindle, or ever wanted to own a kindle, I love my books!

I was given a Kobo reader a couple of years ago, but admit to not using it this year.
I love real books, but only paperbacks, as hard backs can be too heavy.

Yes I love real books. Far more satisfying than a kindle or iPad for me

I've got rid of a lot of my books, for space rather than other reasons.

But much prefer real books. About to start rereading 'Waterland' by Graham Swift.

I have to say I'm a bit torn, I love lending and borrowing books between my friends and loved ones, which you can only really do with paper books - but like @NotTooOld I think it's easier to get recommendations online for ebooks from places like Kindle or Bookbub or Bookouture Deals and it's more instant to download and get stuck right in.

I got my kindle years ago - am now on my second - this one is very light and back lit so can read it so much easier in bed. Would never be without it.
I have arthritis in my hands now so holding a book could be quite painful.

I would never get Kindle - Can' t understand it anyway.
Last night I switched my bed time reading from a paperback 'Guys and Dolls' by Damon Runyon to a paperback of a selection of some of Anton Chechov's short stories. Which I've read before.
Bliss.

Real books for me, although DH uses his Kindle all the time.
I’ve just given half a dozen books to a friend, I enjoy being able to share them and have a discussion about them as I’m passing them on.

I do have a kindle, but it drives me mad as I can’t flip through pages back and forth easily.

So books for me. I love the feel of them and the smell!

With 3470 books on my kindle currently I don’t think I could find room for all of them if they were paper copies.

I dislike the implied snobbery from some people about kindles, talk of ‘real books’ etc., all books are real, it’s just the medium that is different. It’s purely a matter of personal preference, neither is inherently better than the other.

I have 9 bookcases full of paper books but have no preference as to how I read, it depends what book and where I’m reading

I’m off on holiday next week and will be making sure I have at least 15 books downloaded to read whilst I’m away, that would mean an extra large suitcase if I didn’t have a kindle.

My friends still gift "real books" to me, they know I like it.

I much prefer my kindle, lots of books to hand and you can take advantage of the cheap daily and monthly deals. Also you can make the print large so I don't need my specs and it's so convenient to read lying on my side in bed. The downside is that I love libraries and hate to see them close but, of course, I am contributing to their demise by no longer borrowing books. That does make me sad.

I have a bookcase full of real books which I won't part with but all my reading these days is done on my tablet - either my iPad or Amazon Fire tablet. The main reason is primarily my eyesight - I can't see small print in books with my glasses on after I take my lenses out when I go to bed. The fact that I can finish a book in a series and instantly download the next and also read a sample from an untried author is great. The book opens at the last page read too which doesn't happen with a real book unless you use a bookmark or turn the corner over and I can't hold a real book as easily. I have several real books a friend has passed on waiting to be read but so far they're still on the shelf

I haven't bought a new book for over 25 years.

I enjoy the fact that someone else has enjoyed them, and even more that they're 25p in my favourite charity shop.

I don't really understand the need to handle books with paper pages, especially well-thumbed second hand ones. But I enjoy getting lost in a well told story. Surely, it's all about reading, ideas, imagination, and education, whether it's printed on a page or electronically generated? I have so many books available to read on my Kindle, some I read and read again, some that I'm keeping for a real treat. I read whenever I can. I sometimes read them at night when I can't sleep but my DH is not disturbed. I don't have crates of books to dispose of and I can 'lend' my books to friends and family. No trees are harmed in the process!

I have an old style kindle and now have a kindle app on my iPad. This is mainly when we are away.

I also use the local library and the main library and often order books from other branches. None of the council on the appropriate committee had ever used a library so we had quite a battle to keep it open. They were a mainstay in my childhood and serve a real need.

I've never had a kindle or anything like it.
I don't understand how they work, how you would get 'books' on them, so I've just stuck to proper books.

I tried and tried to like my kindle but failed dismally.

Couldn’t get on with a kindle version.
I like the feel of a real book in my hands.
I always read one in bed before sleep.
I find it very comforting.

Usually have the kindle for holidays or when visiting family. You can’t beat the feel of a real book!

I like both but only tend to buy books on the kindle. I like to visit the library though to browse for a book to read

I read both paper and Kindle books. I'm currently away from home for three weeks - I'd need another case to carry enough books for that length of time! Both have their place, I don't see why it needs to be either/or.

I try and use local book stores for real books, too. Ime, they have a more interesting selection of titles than the main chains.
