I enjoyed this book , found it to be a page turner and read it in two sittings. The characters are well drawn and the plot kept me guessing. It contains several clever twists but I don't think it is one of Sophie Hannah's best novels. I much preferred some of her earlier novels. Thank you so much for the free copy. I would like to ask Sophie if she plans to write any more" Culver Valley" novels?

Looking forward to catching up on the book

Thanks for my copy of the book which I have just finished.
I really enjoyed the suspense and tension in the story and kept wondering what the actual crime was for it to be of the crime 'Genre' of books. However as it got further and further into the story it created a really uncomfortable atmosphere.Something was very wrong, or was it that Beth was going slightly mad ? No spoilers here but I like the way the story unfolded, and coercive control can make the strangest things happen by and to people who appear to be perfectly normal.
If we could ask questions to Sophie I'd ask what inspired the story? Was it something in the news? I too think it would make a good screenplay or TV drama serial, it had plenty of tension and I think Sophie will please crime readers with her latest book.

I finished reading the book the day after Boxing Day when we were staying in Kent for Christmas. I’ve left it for my daughter to read who is a huge fan of Sophie Hannah (I didn’t know) and has actually met her. I loved the book and intend to read more of her books now.

Thank you for my copy of Haven't They Grown. I finished the book last night but unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It felt a bit too far-fetched and long-winded for my liking and I struggled to motivate myself to finish it. In terms of questions for the author, I'd like to know how long it took her to write the book and which character she got most attached to while writing the book.

I have started my copy really pleased that it’s by an author I’ve seen a lot but I’ve actually never read before. So far I’m really enjoying it and definitely keeping me glued, building up really well. I will post more when I’ve read more. So far really good book keeping me glued.

I have never read any of the author's books before as this is not my usual choice of genre. The book is a very easy and compelling read, with many twists and turns. I loved the gradual unravelling of the story and the ending which leaves open the possibility of a sequel. I would like to ask Sophie if she has the plot mapped out before writing or whether some of the twists emerge as she writes.

Finished the book in 3 days before Christmas and have sent it on to my 'book buddy' in Scotland (Grannybear) .
I didn't enjoy the book as much as I was hoping, mainly because, like purpledaffodil, felt it was a bit farfetched. Overall it was a well-written story, with believable characters. Can easily see it being made into a film or TV drama. Have read one other book by the same author.

Thanks for my copy which I found really compelling and I devoured it in two sittings.

Genuinely, I had a struggle to close the book around midnight, as I was SO desperate to know where it was heading.

Well done Sophie Hannah.

I haven’t read anything by Sophie Hannah before and probably wouldn’t have chosen one of her books but now I’m a fan. I am finding it difficult to put the book down.

Read it in one session as it is a page turning, riveting read. Question to Sophie - are you planning to carry the story forward with a sequel? I’m sure we will want to know what happened to the characters next!

Thanks GN, a very different read and not one I would have picked up and bought having just scanned the first chapter. No spoilers for all the other recipients, but it will distract you from the hoovering, present wrapping and canapé making!?

Purpledaffodil Sat 21-Dec-19 09:34:22

Not sure if questions to the author were requested, but I would like to ask Sophie if there is a film of the book in the offing? The settings would make this a visual delight too.

Purpledaffodil Sat 21-Dec-19 09:31:33

I have never read anything by Sophie Hannah before but will look out for her in future. I read the book in just two very long sittings! At first I thought it was going to be a tale of the supernatural, but....
It was such a gripping story from the beginning with many twists and turns along the way. While some of the plot did stretch incredulity a little, the study of coercive control was very accurate. Sadly recent news stories have shown this to be so.
