How many others would be interested in reading Harry & Meghan's biography as I would ?

Anniebach Sun 10-May-20 18:27:37

The book was a gift from Oprah Winfrey !

Grannynannywanny Sun 10-May-20 18:13:01

It looked rather forced. Like only that book would do. There must have been a reason for it.

I, too, thought the ‘ storytelling’ video was one of the most fake things I’ve seen. The baby wasn’t at all engaged with either his mother or the book, and she didn’t look comfortable either. I’m sure they could have taken some film of them playing with another ‘favourite’ toy.

maddyone Sun 10-May-20 17:06:22

That was another cringe worthy moment, excruciatingly embarrassing. I felt embarrassed for him when I saw the clip.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-May-20 17:04:24

I thought one of the worst things was when he was overheard pitching for a voice-over role for Meghan when they went to the premier of The Lion King. Where was his pride and dignity? The producer he was speaking to looked completely surprised and taken aback when Harry started begging for work for her.

maddyone Sun 10-May-20 16:53:45

It’s actually all very sad isn’t it?

Framilode Sun 10-May-20 16:41:49

I think Harry is the sort of person who needs structure in his life and the Royal family and his engagements provided that. She has obviously not been happy and I can imagine, behind the scenes, she gave him hell. I read that the Queen was aware of problems in the marriage.

He has looked miserable for some time and I think at this stage will do anything to protect his marriage and to try and keep her happy.

However, I do not think that will last and eventually he will be back.

merlotgran Sun 10-May-20 15:29:04

If Harry is trying to prevent his son from being exploited he's going a funny way about it.

merlotgran Sun 10-May-20 15:26:51

The book was given to him by Oprah who apparently gives a 'standard gift' to 'people she cares about' and was shared on the Instagram account for Save the Children. There is even a charity appeal attached to it.

So, rather than just a charming clip of Archie having a story read to him it's a stage managed appearance designed to promote the Sussex's endeavours not to mention Oprah's largesse.

Anniebach Sun 10-May-20 14:46:08

I agree maddy it was so - it has to be this book , just the perfect book for a 1 year old, not

Callistemon Sun 10-May-20 14:39:06

I thought babies that age tried to put everything into their mouths - including books.

maddyone Sun 10-May-20 14:32:50

It may have been word perfect Annie but the delivery was awful. She was unable to hold the baby’s interest and unwilling to accept that he wanted to look at a different book. It was as unnatural an interaction between a mother and her baby as I have ever seen.

Anniebach Sun 10-May-20 13:58:35

She may have rehearsed her lines for that book , it was all so
word perfect

Sparklefizz Sun 10-May-20 13:42:55

Re Archie's birthday video, it seemed to me that Meghan was auditioning for future voice-overs. None of it was about the baby or what he wanted to do - he tried to pick up another book but she wasn't having it.

Anniebach Sun 10-May-20 13:14:59

He is still useful to her.

It must upset Charles and William. Charles spent time with
The Duke of Windsor in his last years , does he think of the
sadness of The Duke’s life and fear the same lies ahead for his
son.

Rosalyn69 Sun 10-May-20 13:08:31

You’re right maddyone - it was toe curling awful.

maddyone Sun 10-May-20 12:46:36

I agree with you merlot and Calendargirl. I just wish the press would stop reporting on them, then they could have the ‘privacy’ they said they craved.
I thought the video of Meghan reading to baby Archie was cringe worthy. The baby wasn’t remotely engaged with her or the book.

Calendargirl Sun 10-May-20 12:37:55

Yes, the birthday video was all about her. Poor Harry was just behind the scenes, acting as cameraman.

merlotgran Sun 10-May-20 12:34:33

I can see Harry being side lined bit by bit as Meghan's profile continues to rise. He has served his purpose. He has no real talent other than his sincerity where his former charities are concerned. He will always be in Meghan's shadow now. You could see that coming in South Africa where she made all the key speeches and he stood in the background.

maddyone Sun 10-May-20 12:00:54

I cannot see Harry being happy in the situation he’s in for the rest of his life. He’s really become irrelevant.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-May-20 12:00:29

One day he will realise that he is being feted in the US because of his heritage and not because of how likeable he is, or who he is as a person. Meghan only has these relatively new friends because she hooked up with Harry. He is already becoming the Duke of Windsor.

Anniebach Sun 10-May-20 11:43:06

Yes he his surrounded by team Megan who are probably
treating him a king, he is No 1, not No 6, good for his ego.

merlotgran Sun 10-May-20 11:26:33

Harry is surrounded by team Meghan. Everything is orchestrated by Oprah Winfrey. I can't see him enjoying this set up for the rest of his life.

Anniebach Sun 10-May-20 09:48:15

Poor Harry ? Perhaps poor Harry is enjoying his new lifestyle,
as an American celebrity

Maggiemaybe Sun 10-May-20 08:36:25

I will, I’d like to hear what they have to say. I’ll wait till it’s available in the local charity shops though (the wait won’t be long) and make sure I have the salt cellar to hand.
