How many others would be interested in reading Harry & Meghan's biography as I would ?

Mollygo Tue 05-May-20 13:57:26

The blurb says very few know the truth.
That wouldn’t change if EVERYBODY read the book.
Younger son, feels hard done by, spoilt woman who blamed her parents. You can read stories like this on Gransnet any day, but at least Grans can come in here and get a bit of support, empathy, sympathy.

In my opinion they have brought out the worst in each other.

Notsooldat75 Tue 05-May-20 13:51:56

Not interested. And I really loved Harry.

Jishere Tue 05-May-20 13:40:53

I just read the title Finding Freedom now that changes everything they might have been kidnapped and held to ransom, or really live in a war torn country and had to jump on a little rowing boat to gain freedom. Doesn't look like it will be a dissappointing read afterall of marrying a prince having 24 hour protection, private flights and fantastic holidays.

I have a keen interest in royalty, but no, I won't be buying the book. One day I shall read it no doubt, but it will be when she is history. They remind me of Wallis and Edward.

It sounds like just another journalist’s ‘take’ on what they imagine the story to be.
I don’t blame Harry and Meghan for wanting to get away from life under the microscope, no matter who’s idea it was. They chose to do it, and I hope it works out for them, but I have no interest in reading this book.

AlanAv. I too would love to read a book written by the Queen with her thoughts on everything and everyone in her life....

Jishere Tue 05-May-20 13:21:58

Alanav that has made me laugh, yes that would be a wonderful read. She definitely is great example to us all.

ALANaV Tue 05-May-20 13:15:41

Ha ha ! loving some of the comments !!! totally agree...it seems to be a book written by a pair who think they are entitled to be treated as somehow special ….I used to admire Harry for the Invictus Games....but although I feel sorry he lost his mother too young, he cannot feed on the poor little me ticket for years....William also lost his mother young but he is an example of how a privileged person in a gilded cage he may not particularly enjoy, he just gets on with it and accepts publicity, good, bad or indifferent, is a part of his heritage. The person I feel most sorry for is the Queen ….perhaps SHE should publish a book on what she thinks of the rest of the 'Firm;..now THAT I WOULD read …….think she is wonderful and an example to us all.

I would guess that this is part of their plan to establish different income streams for the future - no doubt there will be a follow-up book (or more than one, e.g. Harry's on mental health in the forcs); then there will be her lifestyle blog (no doubt hoping to copy Gwyneth Paltrow's high earning Goop); then there's the merchandise website. The book is to establish themselves as both victims and pioneers -thus leading (they hope) to interviews, chat shows, part for Meghan in films, blah blah blah. I suppose if we don't want to support them financially, we have to accept them trying to make a living elsewhere. But I hope they don't trash the Royal Family - that would be a real burning bridges.

The longer this sorry saga continues the more I think it is driven by Harry. MM is the facilitator; she utilised his angst about his mother's relationship with the press to lend credence to her complaints, but also unleashed some destructive emotions. He was damaged by his parents' very public airing of personal information which should have remained private, long before she died. Now they are following exactly the same path, publicising their version of events in an attempt to damage the royal family, without a thought of how it will damage their child.

Bridgeit Tue 05-May-20 12:54:18

They will never be ‘let go’ because too many publications & photographers are making money from them, if no one purchased these magazines we wouldn’t see so much of them.
If we didn’t watch or listen to programmes about them they would disappear from all media outlets.

homefarm Tue 05-May-20 12:53:33

No, it will be a further distortion of the truth
Dreadful woman, it's a pity he got mixed up with her.
doesn't look like a marriage that has much hope of lasting.
I'm so sorry for the Queen.

leeds22 Tue 05-May-20 12:44:00

Might flick through it when its remaindered. Actually found myself cheering for the Daily Mail when they won the first round of Megan's court case. I hope Harry can gain re-acceptance in the UK when/if the marriage collapses.

Saggi Tue 05-May-20 12:37:01

Can’t they just disappear into the distance and leave us all alone..... if you need a list of enlightening , deep or meaningful literature to read in lockdown , I could supply you with a list of devastating books written over last 1000 years that will ‘blow your mind’ .NOT...want you to blow your dumbed down brain lot,!

HiPpyChick57 Tue 05-May-20 12:33:15

Nah!

Saggi Tue 05-May-20 12:31:37

Oh serendipity you’ve made me smile .... or laugh out loud.smile

Woolleycat Tue 05-May-20 12:21:24

No! I have no interest in them whatsoever

arosebyanyothername Tue 05-May-20 12:04:40

Not interested enough I'm afraid.

For a couple who don't want attention from the press they certainly give them enough material.
I'm sure there will be excerpts and articles in the papers and on tv anyway so I expect I'll hear about it whether I want to or not.

Jishere Tue 05-May-20 12:04:15

I loved there wedding and enjoyed the diversity of it. But what comes after was a storm that they could have rode and carry on. All Royals are under the spotlight, all celebrates are under the spotlight.
But they both want it when it suits them. The queen is elderly and what a tough time she has had accepting their decision.
But I refuse to fund their lifestyle in any way because no doubt we are paying enough in taxes for their security. Plus will this be a kiss and tell story of how the Royals treated Megan, how the papers were racislist?
The queen is elderly and gracefully she has waved them off. Why read a book that must have been written under duress as this couple surely want there privacy?
So I wont be lining there pockets with any more of my money or turning any pages as this book might be another kick in the teeth for the queen, does she need that at her age?

tinysidsmum Tue 05-May-20 12:00:09

Definitely not, unless it's free lol

Lucca Tue 05-May-20 11:57:54

But if they “went” we’d lose so many fascinating threads on GN

pollyolly Tue 05-May-20 11:44:35

They are gone, let them have their privacy, no photos, no reports, no clothing prices and definitely no books. Goodbye .

Anniebach Tue 05-May-20 11:37:26

Members of the royal family will wish him a happy birthday on their official websites

Nannapat Tue 05-May-20 11:37:12

Annecan, my thoughts exactly.
