How many others would be interested in reading Harry & Meghan's biography as I would ?

Whatever happened to our lovely Prince Harry, not the brightest pebble on the beach but he more than made up for that by his obvious sincerity in his support for the military, especially those who had been wounded. He has chosen to give up all of that for a life among a lot of so-called celebrities and I suspect he will soon grow as tired of them as they will of him once the Royal gloss has worn off. What a pity he didn't look at what happened to the Duke of Windsor who never found a role once he had abdicated.
When Harry and Me-gain got married I gave it five years at the most before she had got what she wanted and moved on, and no, I shall not read the book unless it is 10p in a charity shop.

No not unless I had a sick bag next to me.

rowanflower0 Tue 05-May-20 11:33:24

NO.
Even in lockdown, I have FAR better things to do with my time!

Lupatria Tue 05-May-20 11:32:35

in a word - no!

Calendargirl Tue 05-May-20 11:29:22

On a separate note;

It’s Archie’s 1st birthday tomorrow.

Wonder what will feature in the news to mark the occasion?

???

Grannynannywanny Tue 05-May-20 11:27:55

It will be such a dilemma when the shops start to reopen.
Will I go to the book shop and purchase their book? Or will I go to the DIY shop, buy paint and watch it drying on my bedroom wall??

Did someone just say B&Q are already open? ? ?

Grannyjay Tue 05-May-20 11:26:02

Are the proceeds from the sales going to charity?

GoldenAge Tue 05-May-20 11:24:35

There are so many good writers out there with interesting things to say that I would never dream of reading a biography by these two who frankly want it both ways - they want the limelight and yet want to control how it talks about them. Haven't we heard enough about them over the past few years to waste time and money filling out heads with more drivel?

A better title for such a dubious publication would surely be ‘Me, Me, Me.’ It is after all about Meghan, the architect of all this grief, angst and despair inflicted upon us. It is the story of a self aggrandised woman who snatched a prince from the arms of an adoring family and public, then proceeded to control every aspect of his life.
HOW DARE SHE.
How dare she spring into the midst of an institution that has been around for a thousand years, express her displeasure at the way things are done and expect her superiors to bow to her selfish wishes.
How dare she worm her way into Harry’s head and cause him to think of himself as a victim in order to justify ripping him away from his family and country.
Just....
How dare she.

Meghan Markle and her husband

Yep! In a nutshell.

maddyone Tue 05-May-20 11:15:30

The trouble is, they didn’t write it with an open mind. It’s an authorised biography. In other words someone else, well it was two people apparently, wrote it for them with their full cooperation. It will be written from H+M’s point of view. I don’t think much, if any, research will have been done, and in any case, who amongst the other royals is going to give the other side. Historically there are always at least two, often more, interpretations and opinions of any event. This will be undiluted H+M, no doubt spouting the usual rubbish about how they were victims and the royal family were toxic etc etc It will be worded somewhat more diplomatically because that’s what writers do, but it will be the same message. Throw in a bit their wokeness, and add the profit from every book sold to the writers and H+M’s bank accounts, and there you have it. A couple of hundred pages of rubbish.

Crenniemac Tue 05-May-20 11:15:26

I won’t read it. I don’t like reading biographies generally because the authors are just exploiting the public’s interest. Here I think they’ve let down a lot of people - and Harry particularly has let down his brother.

Jabberwok Tue 05-May-20 11:14:16

She's An actress dizzygran, and it was all an act! Had a lot of us fooled for a while I agree!

almostelderly Tue 05-May-20 11:09:47

The criticism aimed at Meghan Markle and her husband was, in the main, justified. 'Do as I say not as I do' was their motto. To suggest that she fled Britain due to racism is outrageous. Initially she received nothing but praise. The turning point appeared to be the interview the pair gave at the end of their African tour. They were representing Queen and Country, funded by the British taxpayer, and the tour became about them and their perceived problems. I suspect the book, written by their sycophants will be in the same vein.

Kartush Tue 05-May-20 11:09:35

So they have written a book......well it worked for his mother so why not

Jabberwok Tue 05-May-20 11:08:24

You're right, it is a sad tale, sad to for a little boy who will grow up without, (apart from Doria), grandparents, cousins, uncles and aunts and all the people that make a family tick!
I would love to see confirmed just one comment from anyone, journalist, GN, another outlet, that has been wilfully detrimental about Meghan 's colour? For certain I have neither seen nor read anything that has been even remotely racist either about her or her mother.
I think you're right about Harry georgia 101 - again, sadly!

merlotgran Tue 05-May-20 11:07:02

It's an authorised biography, Cambia

quizqueen Tue 05-May-20 11:06:49

If I saw a free copy lying around somewhere, I may skip through it for a laugh.

Calendargirl Tue 05-May-20 11:06:39

Surely she must have realised long before the wedding that she would always be ‘second fiddle’ to W&K, and if so, that would have suited the more ‘private’ life they had apparently craved, but no sign of that in the early days of their marriage.

Cambia Tue 05-May-20 11:04:01

Just wondering, did they actually have anything to do with it or is it an unauthorised biography? People seem to be able to write what they like about who they like nowadays! Anything to cash in.

dizzygran Tue 05-May-20 11:02:15

oh dear. I rather like them. Harry had such a bad time when his parents split up and Diana died - I did meet her - in a line up when she visited to open a unit - she was beautiful, with a lovely smile and shook all our hands. My daughter gave her a posy and she was really good with the children. Harry has lots of her good points. I thought Meghan would do a lot to bring about a change to racial bullying when they married - initially there was a change. So much goes on that we know nothing about. I don't think they were given a chance. I would like to see Harry come home and continue his work with the forces. I will read the book with an open mind.

4allweknow Tue 05-May-20 11:01:48

Definite No from me. Publicity seeking and nothing else.

HootyMcOwlface Tue 05-May-20 11:00:28

I really liked her to start with, but that big white wedding, the long veil, walking on her own, that was the first time I felt a bit 'meh'. For a divorcee I thought that really was inappropriate and OTT. She wanted to be the new Diana, she loves being centre stage, and can't handle being second fiddle to W&K.

merlotgran Tue 05-May-20 10:58:59

I'm amazed how many people are taken in by them.

georgia101 Tue 05-May-20 10:54:43

LOL soldiersailor, I so agree. I've never thought the press were as biased against Megan's background as she would have us believe. Yes her colour was mentioned sometimes, but other people have their distinguishing features mentioned too, no matter what the colour of their skin. From what I read it was never mentioned in a disparaging way, just as a fact. She was most often talked of as being beautiful. Too sensitive by half! Harry has been weak to be so influenced by her as to walk away from his much loved brother, and the rest of his family. I think he will sooner rather than later regret this, but will probably stick with her because of his love for his son, and to save face. It's a sad tale.
