Have you read any novels by this author? I have just finished her first, written in her twenties and found it hard to get into, but once hooked, I enjoyed it.
Part of the problem I think, is that it’s an immature work, so will try another. She said herself the heroine was “soppy”?
I am going to read a biography of her life as she was a very interesting woman,

I loved "The weather in the streets," and "Dusty answer," I think I've remembered the titles correctly.

I read 'Invitation to the Waltz' a long time ago and really liked it.

I read The Weather In The Streets and Invitation To The Waltz back in the 70s when I was deeply into Spare Rib and Virago Books. I remember enjoying them at the time but can't remember the actual stories.
