In these days of no physical contact with grandchildren it sounds like a good idea.
Part of my my job used to be to encourage parents and older siblings to sit with their young children with an attractive book
and gradually draw them in to enjoy the story and to try decoding the words themselves.. Not so simple now.
Most British libraries have a good selection for this age group.
