Does anyone remember

A long time back, somewhere in the 80s there was a huge news story about two young sisters who were abducted by their father and taken to his native Afghanistan. Some years later the elder sister escaped and returned to the UK. I think she wrote a book. I have often wondered what became of the 2 girls who I guess would be about 50 something now and I think about them from time to time. Does anyone know of their names or of the book? I would love to read their story.
