Recommendations for book series

Just finished reading Dominicana by Angie Cruz. The story is about Ana a fifteen year old immigrant who finds herself in America. Sad at times and amusing. Thoroughly recommend.

Ken Follett - the Kingsbridge series, all set in/around a cathedral in an English town from the 12th century onwards.
Ken Follett again - the Century series, covers the 20th century from families in the UK, USA, USSR and Germany.
Simon Scarrow - his books about Cato and Macro, two Roman legionnaires, set throughout the Roman Empire.
George R.R.Martin - A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones). Fantasy but still historical.
Hilary Mantel - the Thomas Cromwell trilogy.

This recommendation is a bit off the wall but the "His Dark Materials" trilogy by Phillip Pullman is one of my favourite series of books. Its a YA book set in a series of parallel universes where everyone has a daemon animal that never leaves them, and represents their soul. There was a recent TV series which didn't do it justice.

Gagajo, I loved the Liu Cixin trilogy too. I heard that there was going to be a film/TV series, but maybe COVID has put a halt to that.

The Cazalet Chronicles. The first of five novels is set between the wars and they progress forward in time.

Callistemon £4.99 on Kindle ive downloaded the ones I was missing, I’m on the last one now. Hope he writes some more soon!

I must order more of those for my Kindle Oopsadaisy, as I read a couple and enjoyed them, but they are never reduced.

The Falco novels by Lindsay Davis are good, set in Ancient Rome but I enjoyed the Roma sub Rosa series by Steven Saylor more, about Gordianus the Finder, a detective.

Mazo de la Roche’s Whiteoaks series If you enjoy a family saga. The Jewel in the Crown series about India. Miss Read’s Fairacre novels where the same characters recur.

The Shardlake Series, By CJ Sansom, a medieval Lawyer in the time of Henry V111 and later. V good series of books.

Red Mars, Blue Mars and Green Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson, about the colonisation of Mars, and some great characters and stories.

The Three-Body Problem is a science fiction novel by the Chinese writer Liu Cixin. It is the first book in a trilogy. Amazing novel. I loved it!

I loved Outlander ecci.

Elly Griffiths Series set in East Anglia are fab. You need to read them in order they are the Ruth Galloway books.

The Traders series by Anna Jacobs about early European settlement in Australia.
Although I found books by Patricia Shaw more authentic but they are not, in the main, a series.

Deborah Harkness - The all souls trilogy

Witchcraft and time travel combined with history, I could not put these books down!

Dorothy Dunnett - the Lymond series.
These are sweeping historical novels set in the 16th century. They range across Scotland, France, the Ottoman Empire and Russia.
They’re long and quite dense but I loved them.

Anything by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles.

I enjoyed her World War One seriesand Ive just read the first two in the Morland series. I think there’s about thirty books in that so it should keep you going for a while!
