Think I'll avoid them. I don't need "dark and gritty" at the moment.

Stuart McBride is one of the Tartan Noir authors. I like his novels but they are not for the faint hearted.

My husband reads them, he seems to enjoy them. Stuart McBride is one of his go to authors for crime.

Love them!

So far, we all acknowledge, gritty dark and very enjoyable

Yes, but they are very dark gritty, and probably not for anyone who prefers a gentle Agatha Christie type of story. I enjoy them very much.

We’ve both read many of them and enjoyed all.
PS MrJ hates Marmite!

Hello girl, you can’t mean Sarge ?

I like them as well, but the attitude of some gay characters are not to everyone`s taste.

I like them
I think his books are referred to as Scottish Noir. I find them entertaining page turners but imagine the dark humour and ‘interesting’ key characters may not be for e everyone. Marmite maybe ?

I saw this author recommended in the paper today. Have any of you read his crime books and what are they like please ?
