I enjoyed th Girl With the Louding Voice very much, unusual.
Have you seen Sarah Cox’s book programme on BBC2 ‘Between the Covers’? She hadsome good books mentioned this week, one I am going to order is ‘The Summer Book’ by Tore Jansen.

Just ordered ‘ Saving Missy’ following your great reviews. I also loved ‘The Girl with the Louding Voice’, and many others recommended above.

Another vote for Apples never fall by Liane Moriarty

Parlour Games
Amenable Women
Mrs. Fitton's Country Life
All by Mavis Cheek; quite tart, slightly feminist and funny.

my most recent favorite is "Lessons in Chemistry" - laugh out loud! Got it from Libby.
I bought a copy for DD and not only SiL read it, but it was passed on to all the in-laws.

This is short. Some challenge
but ultimately hopeful/optimistic. Lovely it.

I recently heard it on Borrowbox.

Red White and Royal Blue By Casey McQuiston}

{Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert}

{Beach Read by Emily Henry}

{Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon}

{Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren}

{Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano} this one is less sexy but I think would be a fun beach read

Saving missy wonderful read.

If you enjoyed the series, "Shetland" which ended last night, why not try Ann Cleeves' books on which the TV series is based. The characters and stories may come as a surprise to you, but you will be able to visualise the scenery. I'm starting to re-read them with "Raven Black".

Thank you. I've just downloaded the app.

Jeffrey Archer tells a good tale, as does Sidney Sheldon.

It’s excellent - I have the app on my mobile phone .
You can get samples of books to try & also order books .
It’s saved me a fortune ??.

“The narrow door” by Joanne Harris
and it’s prequal “gentlemen and players”.
Any Mary Wesley you can get hold of, particularly “The vacillations if Poppy Carew” and “Jumping the queue”
The time traveler’s wife

Libby is the library (get it?) app Kindle equivalent. smile

Alypoole Thu 08-Sept-22 11:21:48

What's Libby?

Deedaa Wed 07-Sept-22 22:30:51

I've only just discovered Ellie Griffiths and I'm loving them. The mix of crime, archaeology, humour and, of course, Cathbad the druid is so entertaining.

Clawdy Wed 07-Sept-22 22:24:08

The Beloved Girls - Harriet Evans.
The Birdcage - Eve Chase.
Shadow Girls - Carol Birch.

Lucca, I really enjoyed ‘ The girl wit the louding voice’. It took me a while to get into it as the patois was a little disconcerting to begin with. However, after the first chapters I could not put it down.
I am reading ‘The island of missing trees’. It is certainly different with a fig tree a spokesperson.

Lucca

Has anyone read “The girl with the louding voice” or “Redhead at the side of the road “ . I have them for some reason and wondered if you enjoyed either or both ?

I’ve read The Girl with the Louding Voice’. I enjoyed it, a real eye opener! Won’t give too much away.
