Book recommendation after a break from reading

A friend lent me Raynor Winn's The Salt Path which I've just finished. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it yet.

I agree about Ruth Jones. I’ve just finished Never Greener which was so enjoyable. I would also recommend Orphans of the Storm by Celia Imrie. I couldn’t put it down and it’s based on the lives of some real people.

I've just finished Ruth Jones (Gavin &Stacey) called 'The three of us' to get me back into the habit. Just returned it to the library and picked up a second one of hers. Gentle and enjoyable.

I agree Sarah74 The Keeper of Stories was an enjoyable light read.

I guess you mean novels not just any book at all.

Weed out the genres you dislike. For instance I myself would not bother with crime whodunnits, or pornography.

Next weed out the intellectual level you don't want unless you are adventurous. For instance I have not attempted James Joyce as too advanced for me. And I don't bother with simplistic romcoms either as I like to be intellectually stimulated a little.

“The Keeper of Stories” / Sally Page is a low key, but interesting read

I am in the same position, I love to read and enjoy anything I can get hold of! A few I would recommend to anyone would include books available on Kindle, paperback or hardback and are quite cheap if looking for pressis for others. You might like to try The Belle Fields and sequel Ashes of Roses by Lora Adams - beautifully written, good storyline, many twists and turns and a very unforeseen end to the first book - the sequel is a must! Or you could try Say Kangaroo by Five Sisters? Very unusual poetry, pictures and memories of childhood written by Five Sisters growing up in the 50's and 60's. Topics include holidays. pets, family life, school etc. Brought back beautiful memories for me. If you or anyone wants to try any of them hope you enjoy, am sure you will!

Yes I really enjoyed Miss Benson's Bettle too. I would say something not too long and a fairly easy read. I enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing and an old favourite id Fried Green Tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe

A book I was given as a present and really loved was Miss Benson's Beetle. A gentle read to reintroduce you once again to a love of reading.

I think, to get you back into the rhythm of reading, I would go for an old favourite. Once you do that, it triggers ideas and you set off!
As you don't have a favourite genre, I'm not going to make any recommendations, but it may help to think about whether you like character driven, plot driven, or enjoy lots of description.
