Someone has suggested the book should be called 'Spare Us'
When a political leader lies on their CV - can you trust them?
Sometimes it’s just the small things that press the bruise isn’t it? 😢
To be published in January. Oh dear ?
Someone has suggested the book should be called 'Spare Us'
Well done Harry for getting out and forging a life for yourself and for choosing a strong woman as your wife, not some Stepford type.
Well done Harry for speaking out rather than suffer ‘the slings and arrows’ in silence.
Well done Harry for serving your country and for setting up the Invicta Games.
Free free to tear this to pieces if you don’t think that all this takes courage.
I wish Grany.
Monarchy is secretive if people knew what they hide people wouldn’t be so supportive.
I agree.
“The Firm”, under the guise of all the expensive and gaudy trappings surrounding it is really just a lucrative money making machine.
What I think Harry might and would like to think he would do is expand on the two comments he made on the Oprah interview.
One Charles and William are trapped.
Two The Firm is not a business model that I would want to get involved with.
So trapped.
As queen's Kings in U.K. are born to rule from one family. I think that William and Catherine's children who are paraded around and led to believe that they are something special, George told he will be king one day, what an unnatural way to live, why can't children decide for themselves what they want to be or do when they grow up. Let other peoples children aspire to become Head of State of their country if they want to do.
I think the queen born in a different era she became a queen and she took to that role very well, above politics well publicly. Never complain never explain that was who she was as queen. She was respected. Now a different matter with Charles and Andrew and their, questionable friendships. And Money for honours.
What is monarchy? All power is given to the PM parliament, so what is the role of King it is to do as he is asked by the PM that's his job. But not really above politics as Charles has 'Kings Consent' which means he vets legislation to see if they affect his private interests over a thousand laws have been vetted during queen's long reign. And laws are amended or scrapped so Charles does not have to abide by them as others do. Here is just one of many laws Charles does not abide by. Think of Duchy of Cornwall, tennents are not allowed to buy the land that their house sits on, by law landlords have to agree and do comply, not Charles.
So upholding abiding by the laws of our land and constitution is not what a king will do. But will make sure monarchy is never short of money. So a monarch serves the politicians and Royals, Not The People, that he is meant to serve.
The Firm
Gets money from two Duchies £44 million and going up, to share between King and William.
£100 million Sovereign Grant.
£104 million security for their twenty grand homes that extended family use rent free or heavily subsidised even though they have two or more homes already.
Travel costing millions, As you know they just attend and visit places Giving Evidence says charities shouldn't seek royal patronage thinking they will help much.
Royals spend public money on their own interests and pastimes.
I wonder if Harry will spill the beans on the lazy Royals and say we could do a lot better if we got rid of the monarchy altogether?
I think William is like Charles lazy being now given the £23 million Duchy money and four grand homes one done up costing millions at tax payers expense, he will want to keep the monarchy as is.
Harry more public spirited more charitable away from the palace would tell the truth of what the monarchy really is and what it represents to the people, about time I think.
Monarchy is secretive If people knew what they hide people wouldn't be so supportive.
A bit like a soap opera.
Yes if I suspend concern for those involved, that’s a good description
The need some have to demonise H and M is a mystery to me.
I don't think that I personally ever set out to demonise Harry, though I was critical and disapproving from the start. Then I went through a phase of trying to fathom him out and understand more. The trouble for me now is the more this all goes on, the less seriously I take it. A bit like a soap opera.
It should make interesting reading. Princess Margaret was very popular and had her responsibilities suddenly taken away from her by the Queen when the Queen felt she was becoming too popular, and seemed to have become an alcoholic. Prince Andrew has not exactly flourished either. What is the point of the 'Spare'? I noticed that even in street walkabouts when Harry and Meghan were with William and Kate, they were always made to walk behind them. Imagine having a public life where you are constantly made to feel second rate. The best decision they made was to go to America instead of living this ridiculous life here. The whole way these families behave is sick. Margaret hardly had any education and very nasty Queen Mother ( she certainly had good PR) decided it wasn't worth her getting the same education as Elizabeth. They are major tax thieves (legally as their assets are in the Cayman Islands) as was found by the revelations of the Panama papers. The other Royal Families in Europe have cheaper, quieter lives. Let Harry and Meghan work for a living and feel a sense of self worth. The Queen treated Diana very badly, and frankly was as conniving as her Mother who amassed a huge number of properties which were all transferred tax free. The Royal Family are part of the corrupt state we live in where pensioners pay tax and worry about bills while the very rich pay no tax. The Daily Telegraph, a great supporter of Brexit is owned by the Barclay Brothers who don't pay any tax in the UK yet influence our politics.
The need H&M have to demonise the RF is a mystery to me.
nadaturbe is correct. Not everyone manages to make a full recovery from trauma. There have been numerous threads on this forum discussing parents or adult children who continue to struggle. Most responses are sympathetic to all family members. I can’t see the royal family as much different than the rest of us. Except of course, they do everything in the full glare of publicity. That was how Harry grew up. He married someone who had a successful acting career - Ie living in the public eye.

As the book’s release was announced last week, publisher Penguin Random House said: “For Harry, this is his story at last. With its raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.”
Yes, to the bit about the ghost writer Calendargirl. I think what I was trying to say is will the delivery Harry uses, in terms of tone and expression, be more revealing than my just reading the book myself? Or will the audio just be a rehearsed monologue directed by his wife who knows her craft well.
Perhaps Harry is angling for voice over parts in films and this is a good departure! 😲
If Prince William decided that enough was enough, he didn't want the throne, for himself or his children and Harry could be the heir to the throne, do you not think that this would only start up another torrent of whinges and complains from Prince Harry about the pressures of being heir to the throne?
Prince Harry has much kindness in him and has started the Invictus Games for those left disabled by war. What a shame that he has not learnt from those, who have overcome such devastating physical injury, to achieve sporting excellence and with it, usually, mental resilience, and shown the capacity to control his tendency to self-pity and make his own mark in the world, other than as a man whose outstanding personality trait is self-pity.
Surely when a ghost writer writes a book, he gets the relevant information and nitty gritty details from the person who the book is about, then goes away and writes the thing? That being his job. I assume the subject, in this case Harry, is not a writer himself.
Nothing then stopping him (Harry) from reading the audio version.
( I am sure Meghan has been lurking on the sidelines all along, ‘helping’ Harry remember vital bits of his life, long before she ever met him, of course, and probably butting in on the audio version as well. “No Harry, you need to sound more of a victim at this point! Here, give me the mic! I am an actress, after all!”)
I just feel sorry for their children who will grow up believing in a narrative of of rejection, bias and racism spun by their parents.
Mug shot/hostage cover…
We are not “lynching” him Volver, any fool knows that if you stick your head above the parapet you have to take what comes.
As said many times before, the Queen Mother (not my favourite) played the royal game cunningly, never uttering a public word and drinking, gambling our money away for decades.
This is not the best way to resolve those issues, he will only make them worse.
It's not, I agree.
Sadly some people aren't able to work through issues from their past, even with help.
It won't end well, imho.
I'm a bit confused how a ghost writer has written the memoir, yet Harry will read the book himself in an audio version?
I think I might prefer to do the listening option because we might glean more from his intonation and tone of voice.
just heard this;
The Duke of Sussex’s long-awaited memoir titled Spare bears striking similarities to the autobiography of tennis star Andre Agassi, which was written by the same ghost writer....https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2022/10/27/prince-harrys-memoir-strikingly-similar-andre-agassis-written/
even the style of picture on the front cover

I don't expect anyone to agree but I feel a bit sorry for Harry. He obviously has unresolved issues that he hasn't been able to work through.
I agree, I said that earlier.
He obviously doesn't realise because he could well afford to seek help.
This is not the best way to resolve those issues, he will only make them worse.
In my humble opinion.
I hope he doesn't read GN. It won't help him. I'm not a supporter of the royal family but he's a human being too.

yes, meghan pointed out to him all those unresolved issues he didn't know he had till she told him
👏👏👏
