Spare also means angry, of course. Or maybe he will 'spare' readers/ his family/himself any embarrassment in this book.

I'm appalled by this attitude. If anything he should be relieved! As 'Spare', he has all the trappings of wealth and could do so much in life to promote the things he wants to, but without the 'restraint' if he wants to call it that, of being an heir to the throne.

Well, he's still in line but after William and his three children.
Then come Archie and Lilibet.
Then Andrew.

This book feels to me as though it’s going to be the the last one about the past from Harry or Meghan, and I’ll be glad when the book’s out, everybody’s read it, commented and complained, the fallout is dealt with and we can all move forward, them included, with nothing more to be said.

I thought he’d signed a three book deal so I doubt we’ll get it all at once. 🤔

Oh no, I didn’t know that - how much more there can be to say? If I’m honest, the whole circus of it bores me - I’m not into celebrity exposes, whoever it is.

Oh no!

It won’t be an ‘abject financial failure’ GreenGran.

11unicorn You like Harry and Meghan ! You don't set your bar high do you ? I personally can't abide liars and those 2 don't do truth.

I don't have strong feelings about either of them. There are a lot of people in the world I dislike more. One of them is Harry's Uncle Andy, who if I were the late Queen I would be much more distressed by than her grandson and his wife.

Can you tell me what untruths they have wilfully and knowingly told? Are you absolutely sure none of them could be more accurately construed as differences of perspective?

Mm, you could try

“The Royal family literally cut me off financially”.

The accounts of the then Prince Charles show this to be untrue to several millions.

You’d need a pretty warped perspective to forget to count millions🤔

GreenGran78 Sat 29-Oct-22 20:01:15

Heir and Spare doesn't just refer to the Royal Family. In the days when many children died early it was prudent for anyone with property or a business to pass on to father as many children as possible. Preferably boys who could inherit, and continue the family line.
I'm sick of the Harry and Megan saga, which is continually fired up by headlines in the press. When the book comes out it will be dissected and discussed ad infinitum. I doubt that many people will bother to buy it. With luck Harry and Megan will retire to lick their wounds after its abject financial failure, and find something better to do in order to earn a living.

I agree. There is a hell of a lot of anti H&M bias on GN. Which is always excused with what is seen to be as evidence, which is actually just opinion.

I think the title is funny and shows his sense of humour.

I doubt if really many people know what’s in it beyond Harry himself, his ghost-writer (I assume) and his publisher

You omitted Meghan, but I am sure she had plenty of input.

If not, must be a first.

Wow. Harry’s being his own person. Not everyone is cut out for the Monarchy. He didn’t ask to be born in it, yet had to endure an abnormal upbringing and tragedy at such a young age under everyone’s glare - yet, went on with his education, served valiantly in the military, a few scrapes along the way (life lessons!), started a few foundations, met the woman he wanted to marry, is raiding a family.

He’s got a story to tell. We ALL have a book within us, don’t you think? I don’t begrudge him. His story might be more interesting than mine. I will buy it.

But across the pond, here, we are divided too over the Royals - half are fascinated, the others…”meh.” We have our own problems here with a Former Guy who Thinks He’s Royal.

Everyone loves to judge. Let’s read it first, sit back and watch it play out. This will be interesting. Be grateful you are not the one dealing with this!
Cheers!

I am not that interested in the RF or the Harry and Meghan thing, but have a friend who worked very closely with Harry.
His sentibali charity with the King of Lesotho is related to them both losing their mothers early, but other than that I have never enquired what he ( and William) are really like. They may not tell me much, but might just ask.

Well I confess to not having EFT but I’ve skimmed.
At the risk of being accused (again) of having been conned by two truly dreadful human beings ‘ naive ‘ dumb/ can I say I’m once more stunned by the level of anger and vitriol aimed at Harry and Meghan.
It’s vicious, totally unnecessary and adds nothing positive to our lives.

There have to be more serious things to get wound up about.

I’m not flouncing, I’m walking slowly back to a thread that might not explode with anger

I did say that I might not buy the book, possibly the worst thing I could have said!

I did get cross with a poster who said that Harry's family might consider him expendable.
That did upset me, particularly with Remembrance Day approaching.

There have to be more serious things to get wound up about

How long do we all have to wait Forsythia?

Forsythia Sat 29-Oct-22 18:51:57

I don’t think everybody has done that to be fair. But that is your perception. My perception is that Meghan is everything people say she is and a whole lot more. Time will tell.

Honest to god, what is wrong with people today?

Is it the prospect of the clocks changing? Halloween maybe?

I think you’ve got to accept that you like what you know of them and there are many others who don’t like what they know of them. That said, none of us actually know them. However, we form Our individual opinions from what we read, what they say, what they do, their TV interviews, their behaviour towards their family members. And we all have to agree to disagree. But we will know more when his book comes out and then we may know a bit more than we do currently. Or not.

I neither like them nor dislike them.

I think they are a bit airy-fairy but I don't think they made anybody's life a misery and I don't think Meghan is the manipulative b***h some people think she is. I don't think Harry looks miserable all the time.

It's possible to hope they wouldn't be publishing books and yet not act like a 12-year old, calling them names and making comments about their mental health.

I'll not be reading the book.
