The Crossng Places was first published on 6 Aug 2009, so perhaps you read that ages ago and forgot the title, although you remember the plot and characters? Or maybe you had read something elsewhere about the wood henges that pre-dated the stone ones? Or - magic - perhaps Cathbad sneaked it into your memory as a deja vue? Not his style, but who knows . . .

Her last book in this series has been published this month but the paperback comes out in August. You can get it on Kindle for £13.99 now.

Great series 👍

I have just finished The Last Remains which is the latest in the Ruth Galloway series which I got from the library. As others have said, it was released in January.

The Crossing Places is indeed the first book in the series.

The first book The Crossing Places, refers to the history of some of the characters to explain how they know each other. It does suggest that there is a previous book but there isn't one.

The Crossing Places is the first book in the series. Perhaps you’ve read a later one that refers back to the dig that is referenced in the Crossing Places, or an article or interview about a later book. .

Places, not laces.

CanadianGran Thu 23-Feb-23 21:45:15

Sorry... back to the beginning of the series. Was The Crossing laces indeed the first book? The author referenced a previous case with Ruth and Cathbad involved, and I'm sure I read it!

The last book in the series was released at the end of January.
This series is brilliant and well worth reading.

I think it's being released in August.

After recommendations on here I’m half way through the first book. So far it is only ok.

The final book The Last Remains was published on January 31st looploo. The Crossing Places is the first one canadiangran and it is worth reading them in order to enjoy how the characters develop. They are more addictive than her Brighton ones, but they are very readable.

Be warned these become addictive. I've read through them and am awaiting the publication of the final book this year.

After a conversation here regarding Elly Griffiths, I went to the library and picked up The Crossing Places, which is supposed to be the first of Ruth Galloway series.

But I know the characters were familiar; Ruth and the strange Cathbad. I'm sure I read a book years ago about a prior archaeological dig that was mention in the book. Why would she reference a previous case if this is the first book in the series?

BTW, I did enjoy the book and look forward to reading more.
