It's not what it sounds like although Chemistry is central to the plot. The main character, Elizabeth, is determined not to be pigeonholed in typical women's roles and thus not always popular with some of the males in her life. She is surrounded by a cast of characters that includes her precocious daughter and a dog named Six-thirty.
I enjoyed the novel through the plot's twists and turns, laughing and (almost) crying with the characters.

I absolutely loved it. One of my favourite books so far this year.

PS I've just realised that International Women's Day is the perfect day to recommend this book!

Gave me such a giggle when I read it last year!

I really wanted to like it , but after thoroughly enjoying the start, by the middle I found I was not really liking the characters, and the chemistry bits were becoming very boring! Not finished it yet, though. Maybe that will change.

I’ve just started reading it, because DD2 recommended it. Enjoyable so far.

Really enjoyed it. My DD said she was thinking of getting it so I passed it on.

I loved this book and read it after seeing it recommended on Between the Covers. Would recommend it, even if you have no knowledge of chemistry.
