On the homeward stretch as only been reading at night in bed. It is certainly an interesting read and pleased you enjoyed it.

I read it, I thought it was very good. I didn't know much about John Wilkes Booth, other than he had assassinated Abraham Lincoln on the basis of some rather warped views. I also had no idea his family were English immigrants and a famed acting dynasty of the time. It was a long book, she must have done much research on the stage life of the family and the political landscape of the time,

This is about the family of John Wilkes Booth who shot Abraham Lincoln. It is full of research and sets the background of the times. It is, however, inevitably quite a long novel and some of the political happenings are obviously better understood by Americans. It is readable and the family are a fascinating blend of eccentricity, talent and the unexpected. I now have about another 100 pages to read and I am beginning to look forward to finishing it.. Not sure if that is me or the book. So would be interested to read what others think.
