I’ve been asked to choose the book for our next meeting.

Something a bit different , maybe , not crime or psychological mysteries. We seem to have had a lot of them.

Any suggestions please.

What about a Maggie O’Farrell? Hamnet was excellent and not quite on the same level but also The Marriage Portrait should provoke a discussion.

The Brand New 2024 50 Book Challenge thread on this forum might help?

My book group has recently read Lessons in Chemistry, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, and The Song of Achilles, which have all provoked a bit of debate. Our next is I Am Pilgrim.

We’ve just read Any Human Heart by William Boyd, it’s about 450 pages, but rolls along.
It an amazing story of one man’s linked journals spanned over 60 years.

We enjoyed the Dictionary of Lost Words. This is a novel based on fact about the making of the first edition of the Oxford Dictionary. Also American Dirt about Mexican migration to USA. We are currently reading Lessons by Ian McEwan
