Has anyone read 'Breaking' by Amanda Cassidy?

I have just finished reading this book and I can't help wondering if the author has based her story on the Madeline McCann case. Certainly there are similarities.
The author is a journalist so would have access to all the details of the McCann family. To write a story inspired by their experience is surely the height of insensitivity.

Yeah, I've read "Breaking." Cassidy definitely crafts a gripping narrative, but I get where you're coming from regarding the similarities to the McCann case. It's a fine line between drawing inspiration and being insensitive, especially given Cassidy's background.

Many writers draw inspiration from news and real events. It is important to consider that such novels are often fictional and do not claim to be an accurate representation of real events or the lives of the families associated with them. Understanding and perception of events can vary, and some authors strive to explore complex and relevant topics through their works of literature.

Thank you Curtaintwitcher.

One to avoid.

SkylarMartinez, yes, but to most of us there is a difference between ‘works of literature’ and novels which, the author hopes, will be mass-market best-sellers.
