Her latest book in the Jackson Brodie series - Death At The Sign Of The Rook is out now. I am a big fan of her and like the Jackson Brodie books very much.
I've always felt the JB books were a little lightweight compared to her novels like Behind the Scenes at the Museum, and Life After Life, but this one was up with her best, as was Shrines of Gaiety.
I’m another KA/JB fan, haven’t read this newest one yet but have loved all her other books, JB or non-JB, except for Shrines of Gaiety which I found a bit lacking compared to her usual standard. I wish they would show the JB series on TV again, I think Jason Isaacs was perfectly cast.
I don't know. I have read all the other Jackson Brodie books but that was ages ago so I don't remember much about them. This new one is very readable. Give it a try?
Life After Life was one of my favourite tv series the other year. It didn’t seem to get the acclaim I felt it deserved. I was hoping they’d do A God in Ruins, too.I watched lots of interviews with her afterwards and related to so much of what she said. Bought several of her books but still haven’t got round to reading them ( it’s how I am these days; struggling with concentrating on books).
I couldn't wait! Am half way through it. She's such a good writer. I like her character descriptions. The writing is also very funny at times too. I can see the story unfurling but don't want to finish it too soon. I absolutely loved 'A god in ruins'.
Yes i loved Shrines of Gaiety. I think I read it after recommendation from a gransnetter. Will look on Borrowbox to see if my library has much of a queue.
I loved Transcription,.my second favourite after her first book. I have also read Shrines of Gaiety which I also enjoyed. Don't get on with the others.
Same as TerriBull, they are my favourites, Behind the Scenes at the Museum was my first, I gave it to a friend to read and she thought it was awful, still brings it up to this day.
Transcription was probably the only book of hers I didn't get on with. My favourites, Life After Life, A God in Ruins and Behind The Scenes At The Museum.
Jane43 me neither. I've just finished "normal rules don't apply" which is a collection of short stories and enjoyed them though some are quite dark. I have read the first collection of short stories too but found them very odd!
eddiecat78 she is my favourite author too, Behind The Scenes At The Museum was the first of her books I read and I was hooked after that, I wasn’t too keen on Transcription though.
I'm number 22 on the reservation list at my library, I look forward to reading it. I thought the earlier ones were the best though, I was a bit disappointed with the last one.
Yes, so do I. I am intending to re read the earlier books before this new one.
I think I may reread them because it is a long time since I first read them. I wonder if they will do a tv series of this one, Jason Isaac’s was perfect as Jackson.
I'm on page 267 and loving it! I re-read all the previous Jackson Brodie's recently as I knew this one was coming out. She is such a good writer - my favourite
