I love John Lanchester, and this book is so good and clever with recognisable people!

I recommend his 'Debt to Pleasure', I have read it a few times. I had to re-read it straight after finishing it the first time, to reassure myself that I was not mistaken!

Chocolatelovinggran - My copy came from a great source of my books-a local charity shop .
They virtually give me their books for nothing .
It is pristine and the spine of the yellow cover virtually bleached white .
It must have sat on a bookshelf for years unread .
I'm enjoying recognising people that I know from the descriptions .
Have you read John Lanchester's other books ?

One of my favourite books. When it first came out, I had many conversations with people reading it - some friends and acquaintances, plus random readers on trains and in Le Pain Quoitidien...
A real discussion raiser.

Has anyone read any books by John Lanchester ?
With the proms playing quietly in the background I began to read Capital and I'm enjoying it .
