I cannot remember any of her titles, but the name is so familiar to me so I must have read her in the past.

I bought one on a recommendation and gave up after 40 pages, just not for me.

Like Allira, Trust Me and Remember Me were my favourites.

I think a lot of authors write by design, the first few are original and really good but then the plots and characters of subsequent books turn out similar and predictable, I'm thinking Catherine Cookson and Barbara Erskine novels in particular. It's such a lucrative business though I suppose they just keep churning them out as long as people are happy to read similar plot lines each time

I agree about Joanna Trollope. I found her last one a bit silly.

I found the same thing Marriedalongtime I'm an avid reader but don't bother with her books any more.
Patricia Cornwell's books now read like a textbook.
I find quite often that successful authors go on to write potboilers, very disappointing.

I haven't read any of her books, but know what you mean when an author's subsequent books "go off". I really loved Maeve Binchy's first books at one time, but imo they lapsed into whimsy, also Joanna Trollope's earlier ones really good, she was great on family dynamics and then they just got awful. The crime writer Patricia Cornwall first half dozen or so, again really good, then the acronyms took over I think that's a thing sometimes with American writers, but there were so many at one time they just detracted from the plot, My husband was a big Jack Reacher fan but has said since Lee Child's brother got in on the act, they have become very mediocre.

I liked the earlier books probably more so because I know the areas in Somerset they were written about. I found later books a little repetitive and some of the storylines were very dark.

Her earlier books, particularly Remember Me and Trust Me were very good.

However, I haven't read any for a long time as the last one I read, which started off on a beach somewhere or other, was so disappointing I abandoned it.

Yes! I said as much on a book review site. Like written by different people.

The covers attract me but I am then very disappointed with the weak storylines and feel cheated.

I wouldn’t call any of her books amazing but they are OK for bedtime reading as you wait to drift off.
