Have recently read The Women and really enjoyed it. Now reading the Nightingale. I remember this author being recommended awhile ago but can’t find the thread and would welcome any suggestions you may have for other books by her.

I've only read The Four Winds which I thought was excellent, about The Dust Bowl Farmers during the Great Depression. Successive years of drought, subsequent crop failures and ensuing bank foreclosures forcing those people to leave their lands and move west to California to harvest grapes for subsistence wages. I knew very little about this and it prompted me to read The Grapes of Wrath, the definitive book on that subject. So yes I would recommend it, a very good read indeed.

I have The Women on my to read pile, there have been lots of thumbs up for it on GN.

I have read The Nightingale, The Women, The Great Alone and The Four Winds.
All excellent reads. I would totally recommend each one.

Thank you so much. I read the Grapes of Wrath some years ago and found it harrowing ; especially the end which I have never forgotten. Wondering if I’m strong enough for The Four Winds !!!! The Great Alone I will look up. I am sure most of her books will be great reads. Thank you.
It’s wonderful to find another author that I really enjoyed.

Yes I have ordered The Great Alone being delivered tomorrow.

You'll be strong enough LovetoPaint for The Four Winds if you coped with The Grapes of Wrath that was a very powerful and shattering book about those exploited itinerant workers. Her version is definitely a good read too, I was certainly inspired to read more of her works based on that one.

The Four Winds and also The Women are her best books in my opinion.

Thank you so much. Terri I trust you so I will be getting the four Winds. I am also sure I will be getting all the ones recommended. It’s such a pleasure to find such an author after quite a few let downs lately. Robert Harris is a favourite but have read them all.
