I am about 1/2 way through the book and enjoying learning more about the Vietnam conflict in spite of the gruesome injuries and operations. It seems well written and well researched.

My daughter passed it on to me and I enjoyed it, including the music references.
It is an interesting study of how events change people. I was reminded of the Deer Hunter, which is a film which explored the same theme.

I enjoyed it and liked the music references. I learnt a lot about the Vietnam war . I was born in 58 and didn’t really know much about the war .

I enjoyed it, a friend recommended it to me, it wasn’t entirely predictable and ‘felt’ realistic.

It sound depressing. I have it but can't bring myself to read it.

Oh and ‘The Nightingale’ a close second. Very tense at times a real page turner.

Sorry to derail.
Back to ‘The Women’ ….

I agree about The Nightingale FGT it was that recommendation on GN that got me into her books. I also loved The Great Alone by this author.

I enjoyed it although IMO it’s not her best novel. ‘Four Winds’ is my favourite of hers.

To be honest in this book I think she makes too many references to the chart music of that era. After a while I found it quite irritating.

I can thoroughly recommend The Women by Kristin Hannah. This book about nurses in the Vietnam war is so absorbing especially to this retired nurse but I think it could be enjoyed by anyone. The first half has a lot of explicit content about the injuries and surgery but if you can get past that its a wonderful book.
