" Jane Duncan" (Scots author)

I read and loved all of her books when I was young. I felt the last couple were a bit heavier-handed, though. It's strange how her books seem to have completely disappeared - I never find them on second-hand sites or in shops even when there are lots of others of the same period. Collectors maybe?

Does anyone like Miss Read? I have lived in 2 villages and found a lot of her writing very true. I had to give all of her books away when we downsized and I still regret it

I had all her books in mostly paperback, and when we downsized I took them to our local National Trust. Now older(!) I would love ALL the audio books, but what there are seem to be very expensive.

I used to love her books as a teenager. Very hard to find them now, sadly.

I particularly liked MF Sashie. .. and Tom and George.

I absolutely adored them. Her and Twice’s adventures, etc. All her friends, especially Tom and George.

I remember her work fondly, and Jamaica often came through so vividly in her writing. Seeing the news today brought her to mind as well. Which of her books stayed with you the most?

I remember reading and enjoying the books about/entitled “My Friends” more years ago than I care to remember.
They were of their time I think.
I hadn’t thought of them for so long.
