Do any readers have spells where they cannot get into a book however much they want to. I’m an avid reader but haven’t been able to get into anything in my tbr pile for a few weeks - it’s annoying.

Yeah, happens a lot to me, it’s annoying isn’t it? I usually get over it by buying a really exciting book and reading it non stop.

I know what you mean.

When this happens to me I reread a favourite book, usually works.

I think it's entirely natural, particularly if reading a book that isn't grabbing you and worse still if that follows one you've really loved. I think it's worth moving on until you find one that you enjoy.

I’ve never experienced this in my life until earlier this year. There’s been a number of difficult events among family and friends and I completely lost my reading mojo. I found it quite alarming, to be honest, because I have always read a book before going to sleep and now, I had no interest at all.

I’ve only just begun reading again, and with a really bizarre choice - a book about an overland trek across America! I’ve been engrossed in it so maybe non-fiction is going to appeal to me more for now.

I hope you get your mojo back soon! 📖 📕 📚

Relieved to know it’s not just me ❤️

Happens to me too, especially after books I’ve really loved. SueDonim, I’ve taken to reading non fiction when this happens and it usually does the trick.

Have had a really difficult year and is not improving so I find it impossible to sit down with a book, which is usually such a joy.
Instead I watch rubbish on prime video and usually nod off half way through.

I'm so sorry Babs03, after a difficult bereavement in my 30's i couldn't concentrate on a book & it makes everything so much worse (for a book-0-hollic).
For me I had 2 young children at the time so they kept me going until my head was in a better place. I hope you can find joy in a good book again soon.

Same here. I wondering if, in my case, it’s connected to spending time online. A book was always my go-to when I had some time to myself, but I find myself online more frequently lately.
I’ve just borrowed what I hope will be an absolute page-turner from the library to get me reading again (nothing too demanding to start with).
