Looking for my next book

Wonderland series by Irina Shapiro - I suggested this series to my WI Book Club not thinking they would like my taste but they loved it. Quite an emotional read imo.

This is our book club read for the summer. We will meet mid September to discuss it and choose or next read. It gets great reviews! So 🤞

Tenko I threw broad hints that paid off, it was a gift for a recent birthday. 😊 As it is a print book, I could pass it on to my daughter.

My friend lent me The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
I read it in 2 days, haven't actually read a real book in ages.
Absolutely loved it, highly recommend.

I’ve just finished an old novel “Rogue Male” by Geoffrey Household. Got it in the library. Brilliant!

On holiday recently I read The Names by Florence Knapp . I loved it and was sorry when I finished it.

I've just finished The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout, it's a thought provoking book.

I’ve read a lot of her books and this one is on my kindle wish list. I’m waiting for the price to go down .

I have just finished The Eights by Joanna Miller. It is a lovely mix of fact and fiction. It is set in Oxford in 1920 when women were eventually allowed to study at the University. It tells the story of 4 undergraduates who have rooms on Corridor 8, hence the name. They have very different upbringings but come together to pursue their dream of a degree despite the problems and discrimination put in their way. A delightful book.

Santa Montefiore is my favourite author, and I have read every one of her many books. I am just starting the last in her timeslider trilogy, called The Last Encore, released in hardback last week.
The first (not timeslider) book I read was 'Meet me under the Ombu Tree, which I re-read recently and still enjoyed.
Another favourite was The French Gardener, also the Deverill series. I wasn't keen on the village stories about Flappy.

I’ve just read two books by Kazuo Ishiguro: Klara and the Sun and Never Let Me Go. Very different from his The Remains of the Day. Not time slip but future based. I thoroughly enjoyed both.

A good timeslip novel is Dark Matter, sorry can’t remember the author but it isn’t Michelle Paver’s book Dark Matter ( it’s good but a supernatural horror) so if you google on Amazon both books will come up.It’s really good.

I’ve read some Santa Montefiori and enjoyed them.

My book group is reading The Artist by Lucy Steeds. It’s very summery, set mostly in the S of France. It has a darker side but that’s what makes the story.

I have and she is very popular but I’m not a massive fan.
I’ve just finished Whistler by Ann Patchett and thoroughly enjoyed it. She has a lovely cool, measured way of writing, perfect for a summer read but with some substance.

I’ve just finished The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling. I couldn’t put it down. Her insight is amazing.
