And, it's more based on medical needs than on cognitive deterioration.

Reviews are carried out regularly. Obviously it costs a huge amount of money so it’s not easy to get and if someone appears to improve then they may not fit the strict criteria any longer.

Yes that’s right,

Is this where part of all of the care home costs are paid by the state because there is a medical/health issue rather than just old age?

Please excuse my ignorance, what is CHC ?

My mother had chc but there were regular reviews with the SS care manager and care home staff etc to reassess and it was always on the cards that chc coukd be removed at any time. This was 10 years ago.

As you may remember if you have read my previous posts, my husband has chc funding
So this week we had a so called review with one nurse
She asked a few questions, made a few notes , checked the care home records and then said we needed another dst meeting
She mentioned that he had put some weight on ( which is true but he is still 2 stones lighter than he was ) and that he no longer had a catheter , again this is true as the doctors decided to try him without a catheter
Apart from that , my husband has deteriorated in his mental capacity since he has been at the care home and his lack of mobility is shocking
So I don’t quite understand why she thinks we need a new dst which will be reassessing my husbands eligibility for chc
I was under the impression that since 2018 , the focus had changed and nobody should be reassessed unless there has been , I quote , ‘significant changes’( for the better)
Has anyone been through a similar situation or knows about this ?
I would be grateful if you could help
Thank you
