Removal of chc funding

There is a 6 week home care package which is free under certain conditions - it is designed to empty beds. I am not sure how it is funded. As soon as that ends SS step in and it is means tested.

MiL received free care from the Hospital Social work team which was free, but when it came to transfer to ordinary Social Services Care it was means tested. Is this standard, and what is going on here?

Hospital care is free. Yes it’s standard once you leave hospital to either pay for your care or seek funding via s services.

Care To Be Different featured a man recently who recovered £200,000 in care home fees for his Mother. There are loads of excellent reviews on there.

You need to get all your facts in order and not let anybody intimidate you at your meeting nextweek. Good luck.

Yes I saw it this morning
It was the same story : funding removed and people left to struggle
Something needs to be done about it
Does anyone know how we start a petition for debating in parliament ?

I only caught a bit on the bbc breakfast news today, but it was about the same issue of funding being withdrawn. I didn't see the full article but hopefully its on iplayer etc .

I have bought their book (50 quid) to prepare for the dst meeting last week

You don’t have to buy their book. I didn’t and I still got loads of free advice. I have heard that the book is excellent.

Any time now , the nhs is about to tell me that the chc funding my husband has been receiving since December is now going to be removed
I know this because we had a dst meeting last week and because of how the meeting went
Since December , my husbands pressure sore has healed and he has put some weight back on
Apart from that , he is no better and in fact , in some ways , he is worse
But I now really worry about the finances because it’s so expensive
I know all about the £23000 threshold and all that but his savings won’t last long time and then what happens ?
Ultimately, I am going to be worse off I suppose ?
I wonder if anybody out there can tell me how they’ve coped / they are coping with having to pay exorbitant care fees every month ?
