We need to have a care needs assessment, on my fathers changing care needs. I would like to use an independent social worker for this, does any one of previous experience of this?

Why would you not use the local social services older persons team ( or whatever they are called now)?
I have a feeling that a private assessment does not provide you with any services and whoever provides the care will have to do their own assessment.

The independent advocacy link is a worth a look.

Long wait and sadly their role has now become to find a way of saving the LA money - I speak as an ex SW who watched this sad change as it happened.

I retired 20 years ago as a SW for 20 years, working predominantly in child protection, with a last couple of years in Adult care, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Everyone woukd have been seen according to needs in a reasonable amount of time. It’s probably changed now.

Just wondering how you got on?
Hope this is all behind you now and you have something appropriate in place.
