Mention has just been made on another thread of children who are growing up without the many of the things we take for granted in this country (clean water, sufficient food, education......). Child sponsorship is a brilliant way of reminding ourselves how fortunate we are and helping a child to have a better start in life.
My husband and two of our children have sponsored children through World Vision for years and I have three little Nicaraguan children who I pay school fees for through a tiny local charity. We are now in discussion with an Afghan charity to sponsor a child in Afghanistan.
I'll bet lots of Gransnetters are child sponsors - care to share a little?
