Just twice, three times if you count our second home too. I'm a Taurean and we hate change grin

I grew up in South Yorkshire and lived in the same house till I moved away at 17. Then married a soldier and had ten different houses in various parts of the world until DH left the Army and we settled back in South Yorkshire! We have just moved into our twelfth house, having lived in the previous one for thirty years! It was half a mile from where I was born! Full circle! I suppose the present one will see us out! There is a cemetery just down the road from our new house. The first time we drove past it, DH said "Oh, that's handy!"

5, plus 3 during evacuation. We have been in the present house for 40 years!

3x as a child and 3x in 38 years of marriage and we've been in this house for 31 so I can't imagine how traumatic it would be to move again - all the STUFF I'd have to sort out shock

When living with my parents we moved twice within the same area, after I married DH we have moved a total of 9 times starting off in a one bedroomed flat that we paid the princely sum of £5.00 per week that seems such a small amount but it was 38 yrs ago and was 25% of our income at the time.We did not buy our own home until 1977 when DS1 was 9mths old then moved to the three bed semi which was the worse buy ever, after we had been in there 18mths DS2 made an appearance so space was important and we moved to a four bed Victorian semi in the same area to keep the DCs at the same schools we stayed there for over 20yrs and I still miss that house to this day but it would be inpractable to live there now what with the cost of heating etc, when we lived abroad we moved 3 times in 10yrs from a 3 bed villa into apartments then when we came home lived with our DD until we moved into this lovely apartment that we live in now,we are hoping to move to a bungalow in the next year or two but because we are so comfortable here we are not pushing the option as yet.So we ended not far from where we started off when we first meet.

its only 6times for me and its all been in roughly the same area.. we've been here 15yrs and really don't want the upheaval if we can avoid it..

18 all told, too! But nearly 14 years in this house and I'm not going anywhere! Last house was 12 years. We were really keen not to move the children around once they started school but I couldn't face the upheaval now. Imagine sorting out the lofts and the garage - eek!

Prompted by yogagran's question about how far we have moved from where we grew up, and by LullyDully's reply that she's had 17 homes, I wondered who has moved the most?
Can anyone beat me??
I can remember 10 houses I lived in as a child (might have been more)
Another 2 after I ran away from home aged 17 (whilst still at school)
From the time of getting married up until now, I have had a further 18 homes, and am about to move again.
That's 30 at least!
I can't imagine ever staying anywhere for very long, although I did manage a massive 8 years in the house I bought when I came back from Dubai the first time, with 3 school-aged children and a pending divorce. All my downsizing moves since then (that's 4) have been down to my delightful ex refusing to pay what he was supposed to pay sad

Because I moved around so much as a child, and therefore moved schools frequently, I was determined that when I had children they would have the security of staying put. Unfortunately I married the wrong man!!
My eldest daughter went to 3 primary schools and 3 secondary schools.
My middle daughter went to 3 primary schools and 4 secondary!
My youngest daughter went to 3 primaries but just the one secondary.
Although it did cause them a lot of upset on several occasions, on the whole they all feel they gained coping skills and the ability to adapt easily and to be very sociable, so I guess it wasn't all bad.

Now, the 2 of my daughters who are married both have Australian husbands!! Although they live in the UK at present, the chances of one or both moving to Australia at some time in the future must be quite high.
I guess the nomad gene has been passed on!
