As I can't go and have afternoon tea with my D Sister today because of the snow, how about a virtual tea party? Pretty china cups, saucers and plates and flowery teapots will be the order of the day. Unfortunately I've only got 6 in my Royal Worcester tea set. I have a bone chine teapot ,white with violets. Can anyone supply some more crockery? What shall we have to eat? I have a cucumber in the fridge.

Hunt sshhhhhhh! they might hear us! Your sandwiches look divine - we'd better eat up - it look like her madge is on the prowl, so we might need to leg it!

Annobel Sun 05-Feb-12 16:15:33

Could we be done for treason? I'm getting a bit nervous!

Faye Sun 05-Feb-12 16:15:33

It's not unusual for us to be kicked out asked to leave. For goodness sake grans take your feet off the furniture, you are leaving scuff marks on the antique chairs. Here try the mannuka honey on your crumpets, no it's not a good time to have a sing song...what would Lizzie think? hmm Was that her in the headscarf, oh dear!!!

Just spotted that there has been a Visitor if she comes back we must ask her to join us.

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 16:16:44

Jeni boiling broonie is fab - don't make it if you want to lose weight.

Here's the link to the recipe:

Yummy, I adore cucumber sandwiches!

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 16:18:34

Let's brave it out, girls! We are the marchers, don't forget. How about we call their bluff and invite Lizzie to join us for tea? Hands up if you think we should!

Jacey Sun 05-Feb-12 16:20:34

yes ...she's 'GrannyE' ...we can do this ...GNetters can do anything!

jeni Sun 05-Feb-12 16:21:52

Perhaps she's gamma?

Annobel Sun 05-Feb-12 16:22:00

Interesting press headlines tomorrow!

jeni Sun 05-Feb-12 16:22:22

That should be glamma.

Faye Sun 05-Feb-12 16:26:18

Or maybe she is HRHGran, smile or even QueenGran. smile Most probably nothappyGran because some Gransnetters have left crumbs all over her shabby antique carpets. angry

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 16:28:13

Yes, you just sit right there and don't start bossing anyone around, Liz. We're mainly republicans in here so we won't have any of that nonsense. Now we've set the ground rules, have a lovely cup of tea and some of these nice sandwiches. Broke in? Us? Noooooo! No, we were let in by that nice equerry out there. He mistook us for your guests and we didn't like to argue. Noo, I'm not blushing - it's the heat from that lovely fire.........

Faye Sun 05-Feb-12 16:31:26

Off with her head if she gives us any trouble!

nanachrissy Sun 05-Feb-12 16:31:36

I think we should leg it a bit sharpish..... I can see a real crabby old git gentleman running coming down the corridor ooooooh! SIR....blush

Mamie Sun 05-Feb-12 16:31:42

I'm a bit late, but I have Wedgwood teaset, sugar lumps and tongs and a slop bowl. Cucumber sandwiches would be lovely, I have Yunnan brewing in the china pot and some homemade raspberry jelly for the scones.
DH is making some Chelsea buns, they will be ready soon.

jeni Sun 05-Feb-12 16:31:48

Surely H M Gran not HRH?

jeni Sun 05-Feb-12 16:33:29

By the way, what has carol been making the tea with? Smells more like gin than water!

Annobel Sun 05-Feb-12 16:34:19

Faye, it'll be off with your head if you don't button it right now!

Butternut Sun 05-Feb-12 16:34:29

I think Queenie would love to join us, feet up with a crumpet and slice of boiling broonie and one of carol's sarnies. smile

No doubt carol's dog will hoover up all crumbs.............and queenie's, too.

Mamie Sun 05-Feb-12 16:35:04

Do you think I could teleport the Chelsea buns - I can't get out of the drive?

chocolatepudding Sun 05-Feb-12 16:35:52

I am so sorry to be late, the traffic on the A140 from Suffolk was dreadful. I was just sneaking in and this delightful couple started to explain the history of the house.....so I offered them a chocolate muffin each and they disappeared off to have tea in the drawing room. I bribed the surprised footman with a muffin too. Tea and crumpets - lovely!

Annobel Sun 05-Feb-12 16:35:57

What are you feeding that corgi on, Carol?

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 16:36:30

I did put in a little splash of whatever was in that tantallus over there. You can't tell what it is when it's not in the bottle. Tasted ok to me.
