Does anyone else remember singing at Sunday School "Maytime"...........

Sing a song of Maytime, sing a song of spring,
Fflowers are in their beauty, birds are on the wing,
Maytime, Platime, sing a song of Maytime,
Thank Him for his gifts of love, Sing a Song of Spring.

Can't recall the next verse! Can you track that down imjingl? More in keeping with calendar than weather 5.5' here at the moment!

Nonu I thought it was In the Bleak Midwinter but I may be wrong. Whatever the title I think it is a beautiful hymn and it always makes me cry.

I love that one Anagram. I remember years ago, walking past the local Catholic primary school and the children were singing it. Sweet voices! smile

Abide With Me (in life and death dear Lord abide with me). Sung this hymn at my Mum's funeral it was her favourite, it always makes me sad. Also Song for Athene by Sir John Tavener beautiful music.

Good morning jingl, I just clicked on your everyone's grandsons thread to hear the beautiful voices of There is a Green Hill Far Away, very apt for Good Friday, after a fresh, chilly walk with the dogs, to listen to that was very uplifting and a good start to my day! So thanks.
Happy Easter fellow Gransnetters. grin

Sidney Carter wrote 'One more step' when asked to speak at a Junior School leaving assembly. He felt it would be better than a speech and the words are so good. Glad to hear it was uplifting Granb thanks

Just come across this link. Son and DIL chose "One more Step Along the World I Go" for baby GS funeral service - very uplifting. Think not very well known but certainly remember singing at school.
