Wrong Lipsticks waste of money

I am kicking myself, I saw an advert for what looked like some really glossy lipsticks and after humming and having, I ‘treated’ myself to a couple. They are awful and look dreadful on me, but because they were expensive, I feel that I should wear them. My problem is that I’m disabled and can’t go shopping, so everything has to be bought on line and delivered. I don’t have a lot of money , I just am so disappointed that I’ve wasted money on these lipsticks. Has anyone else ever bought the wrong ones?

I tend to buy in person at the drug store or Sephora, so don't really run into buying the wrong colour, but sometimes I don't like the smell or feeling of a lippy.

Can you put on just a very thin layer? Or combine them with another lipstick you already own? I have one glossy lipstick that is too bright for me if used right from the package, but if I put on a touch and dab it with my finger, it goes on lighter and looks nice.

I’ve bought expensive lipsticks in the past that were advertised as being “long lasting” when all they actually did was really dry out the skin on my lips. Canadian Gran has good advice, perhaps combine the lipsticks with a lip balm that will tone them down, or even a slick of Vaseline.

I rarely wear lipstick nowadays, there are so many lovely, inexpensive lip balms with a hint of colour available.

Do you belong to your local NextDoor
If not, join and ask if there is an Avon or Tropic Rep near you
They will be able to show you samples.
It’s also a very good site for local news and information and recommendations for all sorts.
