That version is a little slower than we sang it andwearingchannel a different ending. It was the choir version on 4part harmony. I USED to sin alto and dh bass. Dd sangt alto or sop and ds bass. ( until he decided to convert to paganism)

They recorded this at Glastonbury Abbey. A very affecting place, Glastonbury.

You really need to clap with this one, and sing loud!

Sang hymns every day at school and loved singing, but I can't remember them!

my favourite hymnlike thing is the Bach aria Wir eilen mit schwachen (from the Cantata BWV 110)

Otherwise known as
I the Lord of sea and sky

Nsube Tue 07-Feb-12 11:11:14

Also like
Is it I, Lord?

Annobel Tue 07-Feb-12 10:43:01

The Old Hundredth - 'All people that on earth do dwell'. More for the tune than for the words. I used it as an introit for my wedding.

harrigran Tue 07-Feb-12 10:31:11

How great thou art or maybe Gladly, thy cross eyed bear grin

glassortwo Tue 07-Feb-12 10:13:06

golden I like that too.

GoldenGran Tue 07-Feb-12 10:11:18

Give Me Joy In My Heart - we had it at our wedding, it is happy and up-beat, not dirge like. We also had it at my MIL's funeral.

glassortwo Tue 07-Feb-12 10:02:54

Hunt what a lovely memory of all those children singing their hearts out on your wedding day.

whatisamashedupphrase Tue 07-Feb-12 09:57:53

whatisamashedupphrase Tue 07-Feb-12 09:57:21

This is a fantastic version of a good old Easter hymn.

You girls could bash it out as good as this. (and at the same pace)

Jesu good above all other. Had it at our wedding in 1955. I was teaching at the time and more than 50 children from my school came to the ceremony. This hymn was for them and we've sung it at every important ceremony ever since. Lovely lilting tune
