What are you reading right now?

Is that the one that features the 'Circumlocution Office' Ian? We've all worked in one of those at some point, I fear [ex civil servant/local government/nhs me!].

I'm reading one of my favourites just now; Great Expectaions, by Charles Dickens.

BAnanas, I didn`t rate Gone Girl much at the start, but it`s coming into it`s own now. I actually like both Before I go to Sleep and Sister. Will get The Bat as soon as I can.

numberplease, I think the Bat is the first, and as annodomini said it wasn't translated until now. My husband has read them all and loves them, so far, I'm 100 pages in, and am enjoying it. Do post when you finish Gone Girl, it sounds good and I see it's on the new Richard and Judy reading list. Sometimes these books that everyone wants to read can be over hyped, didn't really rate the Before I go to Sleep book that everyone was raving about a year ago, or a book called Sister, in fact didn't finish that one.

I wasn`t absolutely sure about it Anno, I`ve read all of them up to, but not including, The Phantom.

I thought it was Redbreast, number, but I've been looking at this page on Amazon that gives the sequence of the Harry Hole books and it appears that The Bat is the first, though I think it might not have been the first to appear in translation.

Lethal Experiment was by John Locke

BAnanas, I love Jo Nesbo`s books, but you really need to start with the first one, I think it was The Snowman, but not absolutely certain.
I`ve just finished Lethal Experiment, can`t remember the author though, liked it, but was divided over whether I should like the "hero" or not, he sounded like a nice fella, but was also a cold blooded hired killer.
Am now reading Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn. A bit slow at the moment, hoping it picks up momentum soon.

I was given Bring Up The Bodies by Hilary Mantel for Christmas having enjoyed Wolf Hall. Just started it as I was finishing the bookclub's book of the month, Restless by William Boyd first. Promising...very!

I loved those Elizabeth Jane Howard books about the Cazalet family, read them quite a while back. Have just finished J K Rowling's The Casual Vacancy, I really enjoyed it and have now just started reading Jo Nesbo's The Bat, haven't read any of his books before.

I have downloaded lots of new stuff to Kindle to take to Spain next week, but at the moment I am re-reading Elizabeth Jane Howard's wonderful Cazalet books and wishing they had made a better job of the TV series.

I've just started 'Angelmaker,' by Nick Harkaway. (John le Carre's son.)

Just started 'The Snow Child' by Eowyn Ivey.a christmas present from DD2 who knows that I still love to hold a new book in spite if having a Kindle.

The Cyclist by Fredrik Nath, wartime France, first of a trilogy.
Author is local to me.

Night over Water by Ken Follett. Just downloaded Anna Karenina in the hope that one day I'll get into it!

Just started My Secret Garden by Alan Titchmarsh about his impressive Georgian pile and splendid garden in Hampshire. My, isn't he grand these days?

Am enjoying Blind Fury.

A challenging read, but an important one about gender discrimination in modern-day India.

Poirot , working out his "leetle grey cells " brilliant !

Of all she wrote he is my favourite , beyond Miss Marple even .

Got given this for Christmas, ' Looking for Fatima' which is a family's personal history of the Palestinian situation. Illuminating and very interesting.

Just finished Dead of Winter, by Lee Weeks, very good, about to start on Blind Fury, by Lynda la Plante.

Love Agatha Christie , always have good old read of them in January .

We have stacks of them ! Working my through !
